Madly Off in All Directions

I have a problem.

I start but do not finish each MRR project.

My most recent has been to create and inventory of all my MRR stuff.  And so far I am sticking to it.

But I've though what I need to do is apply some business project management to my MRR Hobby.

I'm thinking of DCC.

I know I need a rewire.

My wife thinks we need to put down a floor in the basement (currently concrete)

I have a dozen or so, well OK maybe two dozen or so half finished buildings.

Main to Turntable Track

I just received a copy of the original blueprint for the AC&Y Brittain yard compliments of the AC&Y Historical Society. What a magnificent display piece this will make framed in the train room.

Interestingly enough, I noticed something on it that contradicts information I had been given earlier. It concerns trackage leading from the main to the turntable. Brittain did in fact have a switch from the main that leads directly to the turntable. And it isn't very long, less than 500 feet. It is labeled "Outbound west turntable".

Bought a craftsman structure kit? Why or why not?

Okay, we have the other thread on what is a craftsman structure kit - now let me take a different tact in this thread.

Have you ever BOUGHT a craftsman structure kit? Who did you buy it from and why?

Would you buy a craftsman structure kit from any of our sponsors? We have these sponsors who sell "craftsman structure kits" in one form or another:

BBQ or Outdoor Fireplace

Hello, am modeling a scenic overlook area set up with a picnic area. I have the picnic tables, but want to buy 2-4 BBQ grill or outdoor fireplace items. Was hoping for the brick version. Can find sets with people, tables and such, but I ONLY need the actual grill/fireplace items. Any one out there know were I can buy just these items? Website? Thanks, oh, and please respond off net to rlandr0718@att.net.

Sorry, forgot to mention, this is HO scale..

Benchwork Method

I am about to make my pilgrimage to Home Depot for a truckload of white pine. Before I do I am curious to hear any comments you may have about my benchwork construction method. It is pretty conventional so there aren't any experimental construction aspects but I felt it prudent to bounce it off the collective wisdom of MRH readers before I begin.

SP SD9E BUILD

Hi Guys. I promised I would post some pics of this build. This was the last RPP shell I had in my to-do closet. I've had it for years. Thought about selling it or junking it in lieu of getting a Proto SD9, but decided to let it rip. This will be a layout workhorse more than a static display model, so I decided to live with the some of the crude details of the shell, and fix what was easy and reasonable, plus add the appropriate details.

Does double heading two DC locos damage gears and motor? How best to do this?

To have two locos pulling the consist I try to put two similar engines together (i.e. same manufacturer and type) and hope for the best. No two locos ever seem to run at the same speed even if same manufacturer. This is a DC layout and therefore doesn't have the ease of DCC control for matching the locos speeds. How much damage can be done to the gears and motor of the engines in doing this? Is there a better way? If using same manufacturer's locos it seems to work reasonably well but at least one engine must be getting extra force from dragging or pulling the other?
