Need pike ideas? Party On!

Here's a good way to get ideas for starting your layout:  Host a train party!

All you need are:

RPM West Coast Photos

This year, as with RPM Naperville in October of 2010, Joe DElia (of Proto Pwer West/Aline/New Rail Models fame) took charge of the Western Prototype Modelers meet, and rebranded it as RPM West Coast.

The meet looked allot more crowded this year then years past, with the usual West Coast companies present, Exactrail, BLMA Models, Railmaster Hobbies, Aline, Athearn (to a small extent), and Details West.  Also included were a few other small companies.

Rolling Stock Additions

While taking a break from working on several structures, I decided to finish several freight cars that have been in the works for a while. PC 885248 is an Atlas car with cut levers added and weathering based upon a photo I found at George Elwood's Fallen Flags website. Here's a link to the photo of the prototype: http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/pc/pc885122bkg.jpg.

Paw of a Bear Kit Praised

Recently got a very nice email that I wanted to share with y'all after making sure it was okay with Mr. O'Donnel. Then I got sidetracked...plus I'm not so good at blowing my own horn. But this was a really nice email.

Track Plan #1

My layout's track plan is changing significantly from this, but I wanted to share it with you all anyway.

Major Progress - I Am a Happy Camper

After a lot of fun with foam, the upper level benchwork for the new Great Western is installed and ready for track. All that remains is to install the Masonite backdrop.

This is the right side of the center peninsula. The Loveland GW yard is on the right, the I-25 overpass at Birds is at the lower rear and Officer Jct is in the lower front. One side of Johnstown and the start of the Welty Branch with sugar beet dumps is on the top.  The new fascia is not painted satin black yet.
