Using CVT Turnout Kits for Curved Turnouts
I've read the article about using the CVT turnout kits as a poor man's assembly jig. I already have the FastTrack filing jigs so filing point rails, frogs etc wont be a problem. I need to build a true curved turnout, i.e.

Valance Positioning
I started this new thread to keep Rob's backdrop thread from being further hijacked by my valance questions.
Joe, looking at your images and reading the text... Valence bottom edge height I get the feeling the "windows" to your layout are somewhere between 7" and 12", correct? Your upper valance bottom edge distance from floor is less than your personal height, correct?

Of special interest are the very uneven road and the pattern on the brickwork. Note that is not just painted, but "picked".

Kato SD40-2 high short hood conversion
With Sweethome Alabama's first exhibition looming in 6 weeks time, I have been feverishly upgrading some of the locomotives that I want to use on the layout. It's now the turn of the Kato Norfolk Southern SD40-2, which is going from a NW low short hood version, to a SOU high short hood.
