Cordless Drills

About six years ago I purchased a Dewalt cordless drill and now the battery will not hold a charge anymore.

I did not use the drill every day and let the battery sit on the charger ( which the instructions stated was ok ) .

A : A 36 ft flatcar kitbashed from an MDC cast metal underframe with a scratchbuilt superstructure and mostly Tichy details.

solder track joints or not?

I guess I did not make my inquiry clear, my mistake. My question is do I solder my track joints for my layout?

Railfest in North Platte NE

Has anyone been to Railfest in North Platte, NE?

I'm thinking of going to the next one in September 2012.

What should I expect, and not expect?  Any tips would be appreciated.

I am probably going to make a trip before then just to see the Bailey Yard without big crowds.

Thanks,

John

Hi guys, need your help once more. Is it best to solder your track and what's the best way to do it.Also when not to solder?

Painting Help

I just purchased a trolley for a static display on a non operational track on the city street scene on my railroad. The body is plastic and the windows consist of painted silhouettes on a semi-translucent film. I want to repaint the body and roof in two different colors and re-letter the trolley.

Sugar Beet Gondolas

The prototype Great Western Railway had a large number of drop bottom gondolas for hauling sugar beets. They started with 150 small wooden gondolas in the early 1900s and increased their capacity with wooden racks on the top edges.  In 1949, the GWR started buying used steel drop bottom gondolas to replace the wooden ones and eventually had a fleet of 188 units.  All were sold for scrap starting in 1979 when trucks became the predominate method of hauling beets.

P2K 50' Single door boxcar

I just found 2 Proto 2000 50' single door boxcar kits. They are a few years old (10 or so?) but never built. They are undecorated and I am wondering about a prototype for these. I don't think my preferred road (CPR) had these so I am looking for a prototype to paint and letter these two cars. I'm just getting back into the hobby but have done some custom painting and lettering in the past and am eager to fire up the old airbrush. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello and thanks for looking. I hope to document my layout as it goes form paper and my thoughts to real wood and track. I will be updating as I progress and welcome your comments.
