New Scenery at SJ Cabin
Thought I’d start a blog to document the completion of the scenery at SJ Cabin on my Chesapeake, Wheeling and Erie Railroad. Perhaps there will be a few techniques that readers on the MRH Forum will find helpful.

Old MDC motor tuneup tips?
I could use some help here folks. I have an old MDC 2-8-0 (the one with the open frame motor and brass tires) that I recently put a TCS decoder into. It runs fairly well, but it's noisy. Can anybody suggest some things that I can do to improve it, short of replacing the motor? The noise is a high pitched motor whine and is quite annoying. I'm sure it will never go away, but I'm hoping it might be possible to reduce it to a tolerable level.

HO Code 83 track assistance needed.
I am modeling HO scale, using Atlas code 83 track. I also have some Walthers code 83 track. I am modeling the prototype junction pictured below. The turnout needs to be #6 or higher The track goes through the turnout and crosses a parallel track on 2.5 inch centers. (See blue circles below.) I have Atlas Right Track Software and have spent hours trying to make this work. I am not skilled enough to make a custom turnout/crossover.

Eponymous Paint Booth
After 30 years of using TV and computer monitor boxes for a paint booth, I finally broke down and built a proper one. Besides, current versions of TV and monitor boxes just don't have the right form factor.

Recent photos from Sweethome Alabama
I put the layout back up over New Year, so I thought I'd take some new photos showing areas which are not normally seen from the front of the layout. The subjects are an Intermountain U18B and an Athearn CF7, as yet unweathered or sound-fitted.
