Tsunami Soundcar - an alternate idea - STATIONARY APPLICATION FOR YARDS??
Guys (and gals!),
I'm hoping some of you tech savvy modelers will comment on this.
Friend Neil Schofield and I were discussing the Tsunami Soundcar product. In theory it's a great idea, but for those of us who have larger layouts and lots of cars, its all but a non-starter due to cost considerations. But Neil proposed an interesting idea.
mower supply
needing info as to weather or not i can hookup a bachmann power supply that is not on track freed but is on the full power by putting a resister inline off the the power supply not on the main track.

Bachmann DCC locomotives on the cheap
My local shop is selling off Bachmann DCC GP38-2's for $96.00 CDN. This is a great price for a first DCC locomotive on a fixed budget. A little unbelieveble for a DCC locomotive. Anyone have experience with these? Should I just wait and save up the $250.00 for an Atlas? How do the Bachmann's run, are the sounds authentic and lights work and so forth? Thanks in advance.

prototype info
I just found the Meridian Southern. Being originally from Meridian I would be interested in obtaining all the info I can about them. I'm normally a freelance guy so I have no idea how to find things like rosters and track diagrams/routing, industries served and such. I would like to see if I could develop this into a workable model layout. All help is appreciated.

Operations Timeline
I am working on development of operating systems for my layout. My Carolina, Chicopee & Central Illinois is a freelance Class 1 Carrier set in 1967-68, an east-west route Norfolk, VA to Louisville, KY.
I have some prior experience operating on layouts using Time Table - Train Order operations, however when I was employed on a 1:1 scale shortline, we used Track Warrants (and Work Authorities for maintenance, etc). I may be partial to the TW system because it is easy to understand and I know how the system works.
Middle school model RR: measurement
I don’t know if the room dimensions shown on the sketch in my previous post are correct. I’ve never checked.
When I decided to start thinking about layout plan options I asked a couple of kids who had finished their classwork early to measure the room. I made a rough chalk sketch of the major features on the blackboard, handed them a variety of different measuring tapes and asked them to fill the sketch in with the lengths of each section of wall and the distances between opposite walls. This is a photo of the results:
Info on Rolling stock for layout era
Where can I find information about the types of rolling stock used by a particular RR during a given era? I am modeling the Union Pacific south western region during the 80s to late 90s. I am having difficulty finding a definitive list of car types typically seen on the UP line during that period.
