How to color brick on laser engraved wood?
How have you successfully painted brick on laser cut wood? Those grout lines look extremely small.
This my first wooden laser cut structure, representing a small brick station and I do not want to mess it up beyond all repair.
There seem to be two major methods:
1. Paint the whole thing grey grout color, then dry-brush over with red brick color
2. Paint the whole thing brick red, then wipe grey grout color over the whole thing.
Broadway Limited Imports
I have just started running my ATSF 4-8-4 northern steam loco on my small 4x6 home layout. My EZ Command controller (DCC) can only use 10 functions. How can I change the numbering of different functions. I go to a club layout that uses Digitrax.

Switch stands
Hi everyone. After a spell in N Scale and UK 009, I am back in HO. I am laying the track for my new layout using Peco code 83 and intend to manually switch points. However, I remember seeing some scale shape switch stands some time ago. All I can find now are the low level Caboose Hobbies ones. Can anyone point me to where I might find the tall type with lamp signals on them?
Thanks
David
A makeover for Cardigan Junction. A new angle inspired by John Cartwright's famous painting
A few weeks ago I decided to give Cardigan Junction on my 1977 era Soo Line railroad a makeover. The project included replacing the 35 year old metal Woodland Scenic trees with Scenic Express Super trees.
Middle school model RR: the leg team's pulley problem
One of the most important considerations in the design of the benchwork, as with most of what I am planning for the layout, was how easy it would be to parcel out tasks in a way that allowed all students to participate. The benchwork design for the blackboard wall consisted of three 8-foot long modules on legs clipped to the wall under the chalk rail, plus a special 6-foot long section for staging behind the door. That section is just a frame sitting on top of a bookshelf.
Layout Lighting with LED Tubes to replace T8 florescents
I made the following post in a couple of Yahoo discussion groups and I thought it might be useful here. I was unaware before today that there were Led tubes to directly replace T-8 florescent tubes. Others here might already have known that, but now it looks more like that is what I will do to lower the wattage used and avoid UV radiation from florescent lights. I still have to work out what to use for lower deck lighting and that will probably be some smaller LED floodlights. T-8 sized LED tubes will not fit under the upper deck.

Cornhill &Atherton – Mortimer: East of Matrimony Hill
After leaving the tunnel at the summit of Matrimony Hill, the C&A main heads east and passes through Mortimer. This is a small but moderately busy town which services passengers and general freight traffic for a few local industries. Fess Allman is the Station Master and he (like many of those employed by the C&A) is an unusual character. More on Fess and his curious staff at a later date…..

Vertical easements and rigid framed steam locos
I know this sort of relates to the discussion about artificially distressing track, but I did a quick search and did not see any specifics for vertical easements. My interest is related to N scale FreeMo modules in particular, and the fact that we may have many different types of locos and rolling stock passing through.

Update on new layout after watching end of the line
After watching Trainmasters TV March 2014 act two and a possibility of a move, I evaluated my current layout Colorado and Coyote Creek. And on May 29, 2014 I began tearing down the layout. Since then I have had two other gentlemen join my crew and we now have a four-man crew working to build the new layout.
I would like to share with Model Railroad Hobbyist members the work that we have accomplished in the last two months. Here is a short video on my update for August 3, 2014.
