built an elevator

Kinda finished this today. Now I need a layout to put it on

I'm not the happiest with the watercolor pencil weathering of the roof. Does look better in person though

What is this

Can anyone tell me what this building is for. It's in Irvington, KY

Speaker for a early BLI NW2

The speaker on my Broadway Limited NW2 with a QSI decoder has a cone that separated from the voice coil.  Does any know what impedance (8 or 16 ohms) the decoder expects to see in the speaker?   The literature I have found doesn't seem to indicate which it is.

Thanks for any help on this.

Middle school model RR: track plan

As I mentioned in a previous post, once I was satisfied that a model railroad produced good chemistry in my classroom, my initial thought was to add a simple yard module so that trains could actually arrive on the Inglenook from somewhere, and to develop the industries which were now just empty car spots. Even those two things, I realized, would provide many additional dimensions and allow us to incorporate a more robust rationale for the distribution of specific car types.

Design challenge

Hi, would like suggestions for designing a HO layout in a 16' by 10' room.
room

I'm a big fan of the late John Allen and his Gorre & Dapheted.
Real life prototypes Great Northern is my favorite.
Thus the layout is intended to depict a bridge route between the two
going from Andrews on the G&D north to a connection with the GN.

Options for underneath the layout fascia

I need advice on options for a covering below my layout fascia to hide storage. Below is a photo of how the area looks now. I’ve seen many different approaches and I’m interested in hearing what others have used and the pros and cons (if any) of their choice.

Most cost effective way to get custom decals?

The thread about ALPS printers got me thinking about custom decals.  So here's a question for you guys.  What is the most cost effective way to get custom decals for a model project?

For one car/loco?

For 10 cars?

For 100?

At what point does it make sense to put together a custom order from MicroScale or other "traditional" decal manufacturer?  At what point does it make sense to invest in your own decal printing ability?

Richlawn RR V2 - 1st "new" building on the layout - Palmer Asbestos

As a boy growing up in St Matthews, Ky (East of Louisville) I drove past Palmer Asbestos during the 1950's and 60's dozens of times.  The building is memorable to me because of it's large smoke stack with "PALMER" lettered on it vertically.  I'm going to ROUGHLY model this on my layout by kitbashing Walther's "Gas Plant".  Notice that I said roughly....and that's because I am only going to do enough to satisfy my fuzzy memory of the building and it will be severely compressed because of my small available real estate.

Car Wash on the Trenton Subdivision in N Scale

VIA Rail's, Kokanee Park passes through the Car Wash Area in VIA's Maintenance Shop, on my Trenton Subdivision in N Scale.

I have always wanted a Passenger Yard on the layout.  Setting up passenger trains, shop area and an opportunity to display unique rolling stock and engines in VIA Rail Service, provides another level of modeling and operations.
