Modeling topic
The C T central
After looking at all the other posts on here I decided to start my own blog. Attached are pics of my coffee table central n scale layout. It started with a 3 by 3 coffee table from a yard sale. I think its an IKEA model but I'm not sure. It measures 37 inches square and the layout itself is 36 inches square. 1/2 pink foam was glued and svrewed to the table top. As there are no turnouts or grades I cut risers for each progressively taller loop from extra foam. The roadbed is also pink foam joined at the seams with foil tape.

Introducing the Here N There RR
I guess it's time to introduce mu N scale RR under construction. It goes from "Up Here" to "Down There" It/s in a 9' X 12' room. The equipment will be mostly from the North East. It will be bi-level around the wall shelf type.
First I built the helix / nolex.
Tortoise wireing.
I really wasn't prepared for the information overload when I started my layout a year ago. I either heard or read that I should wire each tortoise through a terminal block and at the time it made complete sense. Well now I can't find anything or remember anything. Can someone shed light on where this might be covered? If you've done this or decided not to do this I would love some input as to why you did what you did. They are so trouble free I am at a loss as to the benefit of a terminal block. Thanks , Blayne

Stub tracks off turntable?
I've seen many turntables on layouts where there wasn't enough space in a given area to include a section of track off the turntable so they put in a small piece, say 3-6" long. I think the thought is if you've got a 6" piece of track you could stick a caboose on it or something.
Is there any basis in real railroading for this or just is it just "I can fit another piece of track in"?

Trainlife site
Anyone know more about the closing of the Trainlife site? The back issues magazine copies resource was very valuable.

Pacific Lumber Co. (TPL Co) Caboose #5 -
I really don't know my cabs, what type of caboose was this? I'm looking for a winter project and saw this on Charles Smiely's "Southern Pacific, When the Empire was Intact". I have seen the old kit but it looks nothing like this screen capture. I think it could be fun, even with the a matching Baldwin .... maybe next winter for that.
TIA
