Hi everyone. After a spell in N Scale and UK 009, I am back in HO. I am laying the track for my new layout using Peco code 83 and intend to manually switch points. However, I remember seeing some scale shape switch stands some time ago. All I can find now are the low level Caboose Hobbies ones. Can anyone point me to where I might find the tall type with lamp signals on them?

I believe Details West makes

I believe Details West makes them (P/N SS-914, -915 and -917), and I recall an article here about how to make them operable.

Ah, there was me thinking I could use them to throw switches. It seems that They are either for show of can be made to turn when using switch motors.

I am using the N-scale caboose hobbies with my Micro Engineering turnouts. ME turnouts have a much shorter/narrower throw than other brands. The N scale is just right. .019"

An MMR in our local NMRA (John Saxon) has written articles on building switch stands using mini DPDT switches. From personal experience these work extremely well, are cheap and very reliable. They can switch lights on consoles or signals (or both) whilst they switch frog polarity. You can see from the pictures they look pretty realistic in HO scale. I use them in N Scale and although they are a little big they are less obtrusive than the Caboose throws.
