New HO scale figures coming thanks to 3D scanning and printing

Just saw an ad in the newest Gazette that appears interesting so I followed up on their website.  RailRoadAvenue Models isn't a MRH advertiser so far as I know but perhaps they could be encouraged to join.

Now if there were some way to use a special 3D CAD program to modify their designs (or others) to print custom LP...

Removing rubber stamped lettering from car sides

Like most folks, I purchase decorated models offered by different manufacturers.  I'd like to know if anyone has a suggestion for removal of only the lettering of a car side without damaging the factory paint.  If the lettering were decals, that would be easy but this is stamped on lettering I'm talking about.  Thanks for the help.

Progress Update # 2 - October 2014

The support structure for the main level has been completed. The full scale drawings (discussed in my August 2014 blog) of the layout were taped together and laid out on the supports with the help of poster board.  This gave me a good idea if the tracks were where I wanted them.

Prototype Track Question

Saw this attached to the rail while waiting for the Lake Shore Limited at the Buffalo-Depew Amtrak station.  Any ideas what the purpose of this device is?

Thanks Chris

Another great Layout: Rue De La Glaciere

There is a well known French HO scale layout that has been published in the LR magazine, and some photos have been posted on an other forum as well. The layout is called "La rue de la Glacière" which is an outstanding layout and shows great modeling skills.  Sharing the pictures here for those of you who are interested on variation of modeling skills, scenery, weathering and philosophy from an ocean away:

Passengers in Vehicles

Has anyone tried or have tips regarding how I might add figures (Drivers / Passengers) to HO vehicles?  I've always been annoyed with 'empty' cars and trucks driving down the street.  Thanks for any and all suggestions.
