TOM MILLER'S LAYOUT

When I attended the National Narrow Gauge Convention in Kansas City in September, I met Joel Bragdon and purchased a copy of a video featuring the construction of Tom Miller's layout.  In the video he demonstrates a small adjustable right angle brace that he used under his track bed.  I have tried to find a contact e-mail for Tom, but have been unsuccessful.  In the process I saw that he was (or has) moved.

Quick and Easy N Scale Uncoupling Tool

I use modified bamboo skewers to uncouple cars on my On30 layout but they're just too big for N scale couplers. I don't want to use magnets on my new N scale switching layout so here's the quick and easy uncoupling tool I made:

In-ko-pah RR: Upgrade projects

The past few months, I've had no time for modeling due to a lot of "real life" obligations. I'm finally starting to get a little bit of time, and have used it for a couple of upgrade projects on my 1/24th scale In-ko-pah Railroad...

Minimum 180 degree arc measurement

I'm trying to create  a layout in a very limited area and need to know what the minimum distance is between outside rails for a 180 degree turn. Engine is a 4 x 4 which I hope will decrease the magic number. Thanks ... oops .. sorry should have mentioned it's HO

GREG STUBBINGS: UXBRIDGE & HALIBURTION SUBDIVISIONS CNR CIRCA OCT 1957

In this video sequence I visit with Greg Stubbings in Winchester Ontario.  He has built an HO Scale Railway depicting the Canadian National Railway during the steam days circa October 1957.  The operation centers on Lindsay station and yard as well as the subdivisions that eminate from this Division Point.  He describes the build, the history and passion for this exciting train era and conducts some of the operations his railroad offers.  Enjoy.

Anyone want to design their own little people?

  1. Get some free software for designing your figure from Makehuman;
  2. When you have your figure designed the way you want it, export it in a format Shapeways can work with (these are the formats Makehuman can export in, note .dae, .obj, .stl)
  3. Send it off and see what you get back...

Benchwork; a bit of a problem, after some advice

Hi all,

I've got a bit of an issue with my benchwork, and would like to get some thoughts on the matter.

When I laid the track for my main (stub ended) yard, about a year ago, the track and benchwork were level. But, as I discovered when I installed the fascia last weekend, the frame on which the rest of the benchwork rests has developed a sag. As a result of this, freight cars parked in the yard sidings roll towards the turnouts, and end up fouling the clearance points.

Algonquin Railway ONT 7140

Over the Thanksgiving Weekend In Canada I finished a kitbash of an Ontario Northland boxcar.

A full write up of the build can be found on my personal blog.  Thanks for looking.
