Spray booth
I am starting to build my spray booth and a thought crossed my mind, OUCH! Oh, has anyone built a booth with a down draft ? I other words I am thinking of mounting the fan under the desk and then venting it through the wall. This would give me easy access to the fan when need be and free up space above the booth giving me more room for paint storage. Any body tried or have good or bad thoughts about it?

Inspriation for a Quarry Railroad
Inspiration for a Quarry Railroad
Hi everyone: I found this Vulcan Quarry about five miles west of Kankakee, Illinois. I thought it might be some cool inspiration for an industry on your layous.

So you want a private phone system to communicate on your railroad
I set out to build a phone system for my layout so we could use ABS and Track Warrants on my new layout. I saw some information in the pass but not much on how or what you need to build your own phone company in your layout room.
This video I made goes over what I have found and some ideas that I looked into that start at $125 to build your own phone system that will work. I have also included below in link as to where I bought parts.
this is the link to my video:

Wow - just got an e-mail
From a vendor (Hint, while not a supporter of this magazine, the vendor was mentioned in my City of Miami article as they supplied the weight systems and the body mount coupler setups). I have also used his weight systems on my 13 IC boxcars, 20 Athearn tank cars, 16 IC Accurail Gondolas, and quite a few other pieces, so I am a good customer as well....
Options for re-lettering rolling stock
Hi,
just recently I've settled on a name and theme for my N-scale railroad. Sure I do have a number of existing locos and wagons, some of which I want to keep, even though they fit somewhat marginally... Well, the railroad is buying used equipment for cheap...
Now I was thinking about some quick-n-dirty re-lettering. Not a full re-painting. Has anyone tried using home-printed self-adhesive labels from some office-supply stuff? They are rather thick, more like plated-over, I guess... Is it possible to remove them later on (should I want to re-paint)?
Layout Lighting
In your recent copy, you had a notice about lighting for your layout.
The Modeler , after doing some searching , found LED strip lighting. Inexpensive, and easy to install
A friend of mine has been using a brand that has been coming out of Chins, and has ( I believe ) 4 colors.
Red , White, Blue, and Yellow. It also comes with a control pad the you can chose which color you want, and
you can also dim the light.
this gives you the opportunity to go from daylight to sunset to evening.

Rivarossi Heisler
Over in another post "Locos you want to see produced?" I had posted that I'd like to see a nice HO scale Heisler, and had mentioned that I wasn't interested in the Rivarossi Heisler. Professor Klyzlr questioned why I wasn't interested in the Rivarossi model. Since my opinion of the locomotive had been formed many years ago when the model was initially introduced, I decided to investigate the present state of the model before replying.
Well here we go Upper Deck of Layout plan
Well here we go...This is the Upper Deck of what I hope will be my future layout. And I'm probably designing it all wrong but the upper deck is easier than main. Now this is based off of another layout thats been posted here recently - Pldvdk's N&W Pokey District. Yes I have his blessing to use it to the point he sent me his Xtrkcad Files and I have already shared my few ideas and hes helped it along. But time to get some more help. Do I have the Main deck and the staging deck done yet..No...Why?....
My new free downloadable Calendar 2015: US-Diesel in Action
Same procedure as last year! I like to share my free downloadable calender available at my modellcom-blog. Sorry, but the site is only in german, but you may use the translation function to get a little idea about what is going on there (railroads, real and model and cardmodeling).
The calendar is available as pdf. Print it to your desired size by choosing the printer settings.
