1900 models - 66' gondolas
Some time ago I built five such 66' gondolas of Lake Terminal Railroad that were built in 1899 for shipping of new milled 60' girder rails. Models are in HO-scale.
Railroad Prototype Modelers - Valley Forge, March 2014
I attended the RPM-Valley Forge meet last weekend in Malvern, PA and had a great time operating on local layouts, meeting with old friends, making some new friends, reviewing some great models on display, and taking in several informative presentations. The weekend of concentrated activity has recharged my model railroading batteries! I snapped several images with the iPhone to document techniques and ideas and posted a few below. I encourage other attendees of the 2014 RPM-Valley Forge event to post some of their favorite photos from the meet.

Early Rail Boxcar
To All: This Early Rail Boxcar is on my "To Do" list. It was built by Whit Towers ans presented in a ~!970 issue of Model Railroader. The prototype was built by Hodges Car Company and was discussed in the 1892 Car Builders Magazine. Being 75 feet long (huge for the era) the builder installed a pivoting center truck and angled corners to negotiate around corners, Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St. Louis Rail Group Layout
Bachman GG1
What a shame how Bachman messed up their new HO PRR GG1. Their model of the last PRR paint scheme which was Dark Green Locomotive Enamel, buff gold single stripe with large keystone is done incorrectly.
When I saw the model at the Amherst,MA show I asked the Bachman rep why the PRR lettering in the keystone and outline of the keystone were buff gold, they both should be white. I indicated to him it was wrong.
He informed me that I was wrong, that they had done "extensive research." I even offered to show him a color photo; not interested!
What's on Your Workbench #2
It's been a little over a week and half since I started the first "What's on Your Workbench". I see it's had over 1200 views and a few participants. Lets see what happens this week. I'll give it another try. Don't be shy. Remember you may be teaching or giving inspiration to another modeler.
So I'll begin in the next post.

Interior Hopper Car Weathering
A chat list conversation on hopper car interior weathering a couple of months ago inspired me to try a few techniques to reflect the prototype. These processes have been posted on my blog along with several images to illustrate the ideas. It's the lead post on my blog.
