1900 models - Wabash 8-axle flatcars
Some years ago I built this 4-truck model with an very realistic load after a picture in MR. Here is a link to picture of original Wabash flat #20006 with its heavy load.

What's on Your Workbench?
I'm posting this to counter the "Is it a model". How about a section for "What's On Your Workbench"? First when I go to "Create Topic" I see nothing that I can put this type of post in. I call this a "scratch-bash" or it could also be called a "kit-bash" since I'm using the items that could be kitted and sold as a power unit.
TOWER 55 REPLACEMENT GEARS
For those that have these engines, as I do, with broker gears in them NWSL is making replacement gears. I ordered some today. Was told they are making a run next week so if you need them order now.
Picture of replacement gear. Open post for info on how much and how to order.
Flattening Resin parts
Hallo all freight car builders!
I know how to flatten wood (goo for Northeastern rolling stock kits :)) - but now I received 3 boxes of Westerfield resin kits, where the side walls and end walls of the box cars are not straight and flat. Do you have any trick to flatten these parts without risking to spoil them??
Thanks for any hint

New Rapido USA 37 Foot Meat Refrigerator
I purchased the URTX version (ref 121009-3) on a whim as it does not fit my San Ramon branch line operations. (A full load of hams shipped to Walnut Creak is way after my 1950's era.). The product has not yet been reviewed in any publication I could find so I am wondering if others who might have bought one of these cars would be interested in sharing comments.
Ditch lights.
A question for any and all willing to give me some ideas Ditch lights. I've gotten in the habit of trying to add ditch lights to a loco that I fix up, add DCC to, or just refurbish, DC or DCC. What are you guys using?
I've gone through a pile of tiny incandescent bulbs trying to find the perfect mix of brightness and resistor. Maybe I should go to LED's ?
Shortening a Difco to make two types of Western Side dumps
One of my needs for my mine are some side dump cars that are smaller than the 50 yard Difcos that I have. As previously blogged, I did make a 30 yard ribbed western, and a 20 yard western in 3D printing. However to get a fleet of those would cost a fair penny. My solution, cut up some on sale Difcos to make something close.
