"Enterprise-Level" Model Railroading
I've created this topic to move conversation on "enterprise-level" model railroading out of bobmorning's thread on the UWT-50 throttle, which a number of us have effectively hijacked.
Obscure model review
Recently, as i said in some of my other forums, I got a few early era Bachmann Amtrak stuff (specifically a first iteration Metroliner and assorted Amfleets and a Metroliner dummy). I heard there was an MRR article in the 70s reviewing the Bachmann Metroliner, and the only information i know about it is that its strong at an 11 car pull, but thats kinda it. If anyone has a transcript and possible pictures they might’ve had it would help a bunch. It’s to help with my documentation of the prototype and the model to have a small little archive of the set as a whole.
Swift reefer decals HO
I am looking for HO decals for the Swift reefers in the aluminum scheme with the large red oval. The oval has bock 'Swift' in it and many times black 'filigree ' on the sides of the red oval.
Are there any small decal printers that have these?

3D printed Shay
I have been working on a project for a while now and I now that I have something to show I would post where I am at with it, and where I a going (or need to go).
I started to design an On3 shay that I had planned to scratch build from brass. The original intent was to have some parts printed by Shapeways in brass, while other parts I would use existing castings from PSC along with photo etched parts for the boiler, cab, and tender. My main goal was to be able to use a can motor to power the shay, rather than the coreless motors typically used.

Labelle Tank Car
I found this kit a couple of years ago at my LHS. The only thing I needed to come up with are some rivet decal strips. Sounded like a deal for about $15.
Until I started putting it together. It turns out there is a lot of sanding on the tank to smooth it out. It also turns out to be way to long for the cradle it sits in. See photos below. So question is how do I go about shorting the tank without losing it's shape. Cut it in half and the cut would be enough to cut down the length? Not sure I want to do that.
