The San Miguel Central RR, On30.

"Whether I shall turn out to be the hero of my own life, or whether that station will be held by anybody else, these pages must show."

So, here I am. Born anew.
My journey in model railroading is a continuous one, and after building a layout in HOn3 the last couple of years, I've now jumped headfirst into the dark side of model railroading; On30!

As some may know, I live in Sweden and work as an artist/cultural heritage consultant.

Paint Thining Question

The various formulas for making a thinner all call for a small amount of retarder. What would happen if you don't use the retarder? Is there something else you can use?

Tom Johnson: Question about your trees

I am at the point on my layout where it is time to make trees. The modeled season is early November and the setting is central Connecticut. I model the New Haven RR in 1948. I've used a photo backdrop and I would like the trees to match that same look and feel.

The Maryland Midland gets a farm and a forest.

One thing that was noticed immediately by this transplanted Nevadan was how many farms, churches and trees there are in Western Maryland.  I decided I needed a farm scene and some forest for the trains to run though.  On my layout the forested areas function as scene dividers between relatively prototypical scenes that are way too close together.  So here is the latest areas to have scenery on my Maryland Midland Railroad.

HO Scale laser cutter building wal templates

I am looking at getting a laser cutter and was wondering if there was a source where I could buy or obtain some base building template files that I could use to design my buildings. As I am making a number.ber of large background buildings and other structures a set of base templates to try things out would be most useful.

Steel road plates for holes

I have been researching on the net with no luck trying to find out when steel road plates were first used; what decade?

I have been experimenting making steel plates out of paper and styrene for the fun of it.

Small 90 degree gearbox

I have a place where I want to be able to control some industry gates manually. Looking for a 90 degree small gearbox that would be attached to a pair of chain link gates at one end and a knob on the fascia at the other.   So far have not found anything that small and simple. 1/8'' shaft at knob and gates . Any ideas ? ---  Thanks, Ken
