Track Plan Critique

Hello Everyone

I thought I would present my track plan here for ideas, critiques, and comments. I've borrowed bits and pieces from other track plans to come up with something that would work for my situation. I like building structures so I added several rail served businesses. Originally it was going to be a straight point to point but then I added another leg to make it an L shape. I discovered JMRI operations and was having fun with that so I added a yard.

Utah Belt in N Scale

I was experimenting using AnyRail 6 trying to design an N scale version of the first Utah Belt layout. Has anyone in this group designed an N scale UB? Would like to see for ideas.

Below are photos of what I worked the other night. . .takes some practice laying track over the image but I am finding consistency with the curves. The curves range from 15" to 18" radius so far and the turnouts align with #7 Atlas Turnouts.

Planning Canadian branch line terminus - appreciate feedback

Dear all,

Long story short:
I am a beginner. I've made a layout plan for a fictional Canadian branch line terminal in the 1950's in N-scale. It's a small, rural, 1 train terminus to staging type affair. The actual plan is in the image in the next post. I'd be grateful if some people might have a look at it and point out anything that doesn't seem to make sense.

Building a helix

I have added an article in the How To section on my website describing how I designed and built the helix for my French Creek Branch.

IAIS's 4th Sub - A new beginning

As mentioned in my previous post , the IAIS's West End (Council Bluffs to Atlantic) is on the verge of being dismantled for an upcoming move.  Our offer on the new house has been accepted, and the move is scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend, appropriately enough.

Designing lighter module for existing layout

I am wondering if this type of construction for a 77" X 36" with 2" pink foam glued to it would be structurally sound and lighter than my existing modules that weigh about 70 lbs each.

Identifying bridge support and retaining walls

I want to create a tide out scene similar to this on my third module.

I need help in indentifying this:

Are the horizontal boards, railroad ties? Are the vertical ones, wooden boards?

And what is the bridge mounted on?

Track Plan Adjustments

I've made a few adjustments to the track arrangement on my model railroad First, I've removed the second engine servicing track to allow the scene to breathe some more. The removal of this track allows me to include an engine shed while leaving plenty of room for additional trackside details that would have been difficult to squeeze in before.

Additionally, I removed a short storage track on the opposite end of Sandpoint yard as it was too short to spot more than a single car and was all but useless on my layout.
