Track Planning and Designing My New Layout

I've been working on designing a new layout that I will build in the next couple years. I decided that my current thrown together 4x8 wasn't going to meet my needs, both operationally and aesthetically. Here is what I've come to so far:

Are there prototype run around layouts findable?

Here a fan of american railroads.

Just to give an idea of a prototype circling railroad with decent mesurements. I found this in the harbour area of Savannah, Georgia. As an H0 scale model railroad it requires 4,7m by 5,6m to build WITHOUT compression.

Isn't that nice as a starter?

Connecticut Northern design

Here's what I've got for my design of the Connecticut Northern, a freelanced modern industrial switching layout located in a fictional industrial park with industries typical of the Northeastern United States. The concept is that it's going to be part of a larger layout with some modules, a yard, and some other sections.

I was inspired by this design, and decided to adapt it to my industries.

NYS&W New York Mills Industrial - the layout I won't build

I should say up front that this is not the model railroad I am going to build.  I'll explain why below.  But it was a strong contender and I came close to building it.

HO scale Diorama

My first wood build The Cundy Village Hotel, aka Sadie's BnB. I enjoyed the build.

Layout Plan, concept, and design.

We take a look at my layout plan, going through changes right up to laying the track.

Does Negative Space strictly mean unused or uncluttered?

So, I have been devouring the book "Model Railroading As Art". By dumb luck I ended up with several areas that I believe fit the category of "Negative Space". However, I quickly felt the need to fill up that space.

Civil War 1/72 figures on HO scale 1860s layout

Looking at creating a layout based around the 1860s era and use of Civil War  trains....hard to find Civil War soldiers in 1/87th, how bad would it look with 1/72 figures....6 footers everywhere?

Thanks

The Eastborough Industrial

It's taken me far too long but I've finally narrowed in on what I really want out of this layout and have worked out a plan which I think I'll find fun and satisfying.

New Build questions and intro

Hey,

I'm new here, but have been reading the posts for a while trying to gather a bunch of info to start my new project.

There are no train/hobby stores near me here in Central Texas.  Back in '98 we moved from Columbus Ohio, the home of "The Train Station" on Indianola,,, (a fantastic shop that had everything one could want) where I had a 4x8 built out in the basement.  That was pre- bluetooth, smart phones, first gen Digitrax, etc.  So with that said I am semi-familiar with how this all works.
