Layout design
The Secret is in the details. Prototype Bingham Canyon mine.
Details is one of the funniest things to do.

Custom modeled freight cars and other N and HO models
I have been practicing my CAD skills over the past few years, and recently, I decided to design freight cars, detail parts, and other models. As an N scale modeler, I have been involved in the hobby for many years now and have noticed that there is a certain limit manufacturers reach when producing models: only a certain amount of new models can be researched, CADed, tooled, manufactured, and released every year.
New Track Plan in the Works
Hey All,
So the original plan was for a room filling layout housed in a part of our upcoming home addition. Thanks to covid lumber prices though, the addition has put on hold indefinitely... A year out at best, so long as nothing else comes up in life.
Backdrops
Hello everyone.
Something i've been putting off has been backdrops. An important feature of a model railrad. A friend of mine doesn't really like the photo backdrops as he says it takes away from the modelled portion of the layout. But as one of the backdrop providers says on their website, a backdrop is a model too.
I'm proficient with Adobe Photoshop and with editing I can produce a nice backdrop with high quality images, if I have them.
Layout Mock Up
Having put up some new shelves, which allowed me clear the shelves the layout will live on, I thought I would mock up the layout to see how things looked and have a go at switching a few cars. I only added 1 turnout as all the others I have prewired for attaching to a frog juicer. It was interesting I had planned to have 2 turnouts but as the layout is only planned to be 12 or 13 inches wide (the shelves are 12 inches wide), but with just 1 turnout the layout feels right. If I put another one in I think it would look and feel cramped. Unless I make t
A modern Shortline in HO
I thought I would start a blog on my attempts to model a modern shortline railroad in limited space. I live in the UK so any research I do is all web-based.
I have been modeling North American Railroads on and off for 25 years or so but have never managed to complete a layout, hopefully now is the time!
Inspired by Lance Mindhiem, Mike Confalone, and Jack Hill I am modeling a small single industry layout, something I can complete to a standard I would be happy with.
