Airbrush Questions

Hello all,

I am looking into getting an airbrush and am rather daunted by the wide selection and varieties.

Anyone have any suggestions for a good quality airbrush for beginners?

Making ho version of welded rail

I have a whack of rail, but I am looking for idea to display continuous welded rail on the side at certain spots around the layout.  The only way I know is to solder two sections of rail with a joiner, but then it does not look like the real thing. Does anyone have any ideas? My other thought, that I have seen out there, is to use fishplates (joiners) that the rail used and CA them toghther

Web Site for OLD books, Steam Repairs Etc.

Found this web site listing many old books from years ago. Including repair and maintenance of steam engines, metal work, machining, foundry and welding, etc. Memories of by gone years of how to.

Thought these may be of interest and helpful.

West Of Tucumcari

Just before we started heading back from Maine to California, I discovered that UP 844 was heading west to celebrate the centennial of New Mexico and Arizona statehood. Since I-40 is our normal route, it was a no brainer to see if we could see some of the action between Tucumcari, NM and Santa Rosa, NM as the old SP line parallels I-40 for about 60 miles.

Couldn't have asked for better conditions. Lighting was superb (although I can't say as much for conditions between Santa Rosa and Albuquerque where we got high winds and snow).

New Advertiser?

Is Rail*Star a new advertiser?

It's not listed in the sponsors section, just a banner.

It has some intriguing products.

Resaerching the forum

Hello!

I recently started a blog/website (http://h0traindepot.com/) dedicated to H0 railroad modeling. I'm preparing a post about various discussion forums about H0 train models. I decided, that the best route would be to actually register and say "hello" on each forum I plan to write about - I guess it's obvious, but still I'm outlining my motivations.

So - HELLO, I'm new here :)

That said, I'm curious...

Decals, Dullcote and Glosscote

I read that when finishing structures the finish should be glossy, paint to glosscote before applying decals, then sprayed with dullcote last. True?

Chesapeake and Ohio

I live in the UK. I am currently starting a model railroad, I have picked the C & O in the Appalanchians to model.

G.E. 44 Ton Diesel Loco.

I just received the Keystone 44 Ton Diesel Loco kit.  The kit looks great but it came without instructions.

Can anyone help me by copying their instructions and mailing them to me?  I will be glad to pay whatever you like for this.

Thanks, Paul

UP 844 Heads (South) West

UP 844 is heading towards New Mexico and Arizona to celebrate the statehood centennial for both states.

Here's a detailed schedule for the trip. 844 will also be heading to Southern California and will be heading back to Cheyenne via Cajon Pass. I-15, which is a traveling parking lot normally will morph into a real parking lot when 844 goes through.
