MRH Website general discussion

Kindle Fire Meltdown
Well, not really a Kindle meltdown......more like me melting down from anger / overheating due to Kindle issues.
I was using my Kindle Fire and everything was going well with great connectivity with the web through my Wi-fi connection. The battery started to get low and gave me a "battery at 15%" warning. I shut down my Kindle before the battery completely discharged and put it on charge.

Photography class -- Photography with class ...
Over on another thread, JL&T Railroad Blog - Trackside Photos...
Jas posted some pretty nice photos of his module. The voices of the forum agree, these are pretty nice work.
Article Upload Problem
Have attempted to upload a file but receive error. Fill in form, add file and enter. Attempts to load but after a period of time displays error stating that page cannot be loaded, site may be busy try later. Not going through any proxy of firewall.
Any suggestions. The last time I did this it worked OK but that was last spring.

Mobile Modeling - Or what to do away from home.
As a general guideline I try to make some progress on my model railroad every day with the hopes of moving forward and someday be nearer to "completion" (if there is such a thing). It's not a hard and fast rule, but a guideline as sometimes (believe it or not!) I just don't feel like modeling.

Using my new Kindle Fire
I promised JoeF that I would report when I had tried the MRH mag on me. Kindle Fire.
I'm happy to report success. I'll report more later. It is slow typing on this little screen, but it
is doable.

Easy Model Railroad Inventory Clinic
Will be giving a clinic on Easy Model Railroad Inventory this Saturday at the Virginia Beach Library hosted by the NMRA Tidewater Division.
A little nervous, when I started to prepare I really didn't know where to start. so I printed the user manual thinking the table of contents would be a good outline.
The manual is 191 pages long. I think I will focus on the basic functions used in all areas of the program. Then I will let the Q & A drill down to the details.

A suggestion for the forum
I have a minor issue with the way the MRH forum works. First, I'd like to say that I LOVE being able to go straight to the first unread response in a thread. It's so handy to be able to scroll down and open each thread in a new tab, then read them at my leisure.

Making Aspens
I was wondering if anyone on this group has tried using the Scenic Express Yellow Aspen Leaf flock, while making Aspen trees?

Did you like the results, texture and color?
Since Aspen leaves are round, I was looking for flock that is mini round disks.
Hard to tell from their website if their flock is round like I am looking for.

For Those Contemplating a Large Layout . . .
For Jarhead and others contemplating a larger layout - careful you don't let your layout turn out like this:

iPhoto and the MRH website
Hi All-
I made the recent migration back to a Mac after 20 years or so on PCs and was curious what strategies other Mac users employ to post photos to the MRH website. On my PC I would simply resize and then use the uploader to post them to the site but with iPhoto I need to resize, export, and then upload.
Seems like I'm just adding steps. What do you guys do? Thanks in advance for the help!
