ProtoThrottle Braking and Tsunami 2 CV Settings

I am enjoying my ProtoThrottle.  The one function I can't seem ti get working is the brake handle.  I'm about 99.99% sure it has to do with the CV settings and nothing to do with the throttle.  Here is what I have done

PT

Changed braking from function 10 to function 11

Changed braking to variable-pulse

Genesis GP7 with Tsunami 2

Changed CV116 Dynamic Brake from 0 to 100

Changed CV117 Independent Brake from 0 to 100

ProtoThrottle on DCC++

I run my actual layout with NCE, but I built this DCC++ command station for an upcoming demo at the local NMRA division meeting.  I thought running the ProtoThrottle through the $50 DCC++ command station would be a fun way to wrap up the demo.

However, I'll keep the PT under wraps until the end of the presentation, or it will likely be the center of attention.

Here's a one minute video.

Okay steam modelers -- what would your ProtoThrottle look like?

Okay, now that the diesel ProtoThrottle is out, let's have a hypothetical discussion here.

What would a steam-based ProtoThrottle look like, and how would it function?

This involves TWO things as I see it:

1. What decoder settings would be needed to simulate momentum and things like the Johnson bar?
2. What might the physical configuration of a throttle that simulates a boiler backhead look like? Could it be handheld?

Creating an operations system for my Railroad

HI Folks:

I am trying to figure out how to run operations on my modern day San Luis and Rio Grande.  The system is set in a slightly alternate universe, where passenger rail never died, and has supplanted air travel, but mostly the rest is the same.  The layout focuses on the area between Alamosa and walsenburg, with staging representing branch lines to Creede and Center Colorado, as well as an interchange with the BNSF in Gallup NM, and the UP in Walsenburg, CO.

ProtoThrottle Milestone

Today, we just finished shipping all the ProtoThrottle pre-orders. Thank you to all who ordered, and to the MRH community where this all started. We look forward to seeing where this goes in the future.

Has anybody developed a way to print 4 sided waybill for this program

Operating session on the Santa Fe Hereford Subvision - Photo Tour.

On Saturday I was privileged to operate on the Santa Fe Hereford Subdivision Layout owned by Sammy Carlile.

The Hereford sub is a double Deck Nolix layout built in a double garage and has been featured in the Railroad Model Craftsman. It is based o the ATSF from Amarillo Tx to Clovis NM. Sammy is an excellent modeler and is very handy at weathering. The layout is operated by a crew of 10, 4 2man train crews a dispatcher and generl superintendent Sammy. Digitrax wireless DCC is used for control and radio communications.

Unexplained Loco Stops

Hi I'm Isaac, and this is my first post ever.  Before I explain my problem, I'd like to thank everyone on this forum and the other railroad forums for helping me get where I am today; I would not possess even the slightest bit of knowledge I now have without you all.

A little bit of background on my layout specs:  Atlas code 100 #6's and flex on cork, Digitrax DCC (Zephyr Xtra & IR Loconet), Feeder wires about every 3' (soldered to the bottom of rail joiners)

DCC in a Dummy?

Probably an odd question, but here goes...

I have a staging yard that is three tracks; no way to turn around locos.  Also, my layout (urban, industrial) has no wye or turntable.  My loco for the train to and from the staging yard is an F-7 (Intermountain, sound, Milwaukee).

Layout Op Sessions in Omaha/Council Bluffs area

I am looking for any layouts open to new people participating in op sessions in the Omaha / Council Bluffs area.  I am open to driving to Lincoln if it works with my schedule.  I have been modeling since I can remember and am currently working on a 13' x 7' N Scale MRL layout.  I am familiar with NCE and Digitrax and understand basic op session guidelines, though this would be my first time.
