NP Green Paint Match?
I need help color matching this NP boxcar green. It doesn't have to be an exact match as I will be doing some weathering, but I need to plug the holes from removing the roofwalk, and shortening the ladders along with removing the yellow strip on the door.
Any suggestions on what color(s) to use? I looked at the MRH paint guide and came up with: dark green, coach green, pullman green, or maybe CN green?
Split/broken gear - how to find replacement
I just bought a used/second hand brass model of a Norwegian electric. The model is as new but it doesn't run. I opened one of the gear boxes and the top gear is split. See picture for the actual gear. It is a 16 tooth gear. I reached out to the manufacturer but in the mean time I want to see whether I could use a NWSL replacement gear but how we would I find the right size? What do I all need to measure?
Any thoughts?

Plans Wanted for Ambroid original B&M Snowplow
For too many years, I've been sitting on an ancient Ambroid B&M snowplow kit, semi-assembled (the original, not the winged). Can't remember when I got it or when I started work on it but I do know when I got it, Ambroid was still in business. I got it out (it's winter after all) and thought to restarting. But I no longer have the plans, can't find them anywhere.
Anyone out there have them and can share? I can wing it but I'd be most appreciative.

brass caboose occasionally shorts out
I have a brass caboose that was beautifully painted by a previous owner. My problem is that it occasionally shorts out, causing the DCC system to reset. This is annoying.
A friend suggested I brush "Liquid Electrical Tape" on the underframe any place where the wheels might touch - center sill and inside of steps.
Does this seem like a good idea?
What's the Best Way to Clean Brass Locomotives?
I received a very nice brass steam locomotive from a special friend a few years ago for Christmas. It's an LIRR-inspired G-5 4-6-0 and it's the first brass engine I've ever owned. Therefore, I am ignorant to the type of maintenance it requires and am rather apprehensive to jump into any type of service project without some community advice.

Does anyone know where I can buy a new drive shaft for a Walther's Mainline Dash 8-40C ? Their design has some tiny tabs that fit onto a U joint and when one of the tabs break, you end up with an engine that doesn't run...
Source for custom weights for models?
We're working on a caboose kit and need a source for weights that we can put inside the car on the floor. Does anyone know of a source for flat weights similar to what we're looking for?
DCC Conversion
I need thoughts and opinions.
I'm finally starting a layout (at age 73). I have 5 LifeLike Proto 2000 SD9s that I'd like to put sound decoders in. These are old units purchade in the 90s. They are not DCC ready. Do I bother to install a socket or plan on hardwiring the decoders? Speakers in the fuel tanks? I'm thinking of going with TCS units as they seem reasonably priced. I don't need the best and latest. Replace the gears? With Athearn or NWSL?
