Ok ,I'm patching out an engine using solid trim decals. Ok after the decal dries do I spray gloss coat over it before I put lettering decals over the patch decal or do I just put the decals over the decal the after its dry spray gloss coat, wait for it to dry then spray dullcote?

Thank you

Loco Limping Under Load

I've got a HO scale Manuta 2-6-6-2T that I'm hoping to use as the basis for an On30 conversion.  However, it has a rather unusual problem.  When I put the plastic chassis on it, the locomotive runs smoothly.  But as soon as I put any weight on it (such as the body), it starts to perform poorly.  It'll limp along the track, and the motor will even stall at some points.

Bachmann 4-8-4 Northern

I ended up with 3 of these late model Bachmann 4-8-4 Northerns. They really are nice looking engines, and they appear to run real nice, and pull real nice.

Flatcar questions

I have a couple of questions about flat cars. I’m starting to plan on modeling a Long Island Rail Road reacher car. These were flatcars used to load and unload cars from float bridges so the locomotive didn’t have to move onto the float bridge. Some of them had a small cabin to protect the crew. A link to one is below.

How Many Are Removing Flywheels Today ?

With todays decoders having BEMF and stay-alive capacitors, just wondering how many people are removing the flywheels to gain some much needed real estate for things like speakers and capacitors ?  I removed the flywheels from my Atlas RS3s, and to be perfectly honest, it really made no difference at all as to their performance. Had I left them in place, there was no possible way I was going to get everything inside that I wanted.

Lead and White Glue - Corrosion and Expansion

I see an item in June 2020 MRH that shows lead being glued into a locomotive using white glue.  I've read in the British press of problems with lead corrosion causing damage to the locomotive.  Here's a discussion from 2009.  https://www.lner.info/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2737

Maybe the glues are different enough or the volume in the fuel tank is smaller but care should be taken.

Diaphragm's for brass passenger cars

Good evening to all, I have a question for the everyone.

Does anyone out there have any experience with installing diaphragm’s on brass passenger cars?  If you do, could you make a recommendation on which brand I should try.

Thank you

A whale of a car

Here's a car everybody needs on their layout.  Might want to turn up the AC when running it.
