Tender Truck ID and HO Sources
Can anyone ID these auxiliary water tender trucks? They served on the Great Northern and I was also looking for an HO source for them.
Thanks.
Box cars from other country in the US
Would 50 foot steel box cars from Canada like CP and CN make thier way into the southern states of the US in the late 60s and ealry 70s? As for south as the San Diego area? I've seen pics of these box cars in the US, but only in the mid-western states and east coast.

Questions Concerning the Union Pacific Dash 8-40c Locomotives
Hello, All
This is my first post on this forum. Yay! I do have a few questions concerning the Union Pacific Dash 8-40c Locomotives.
- Are there any UP Dash 8-40c still in service on the UP?
- Were their any UP Dash 8-40c locomotives painted with the flag scheme?
- How long were they?

Signal Configuration Question
Question for the prototype signal experts -
I could see most of this track and signal configuration in a YouTube video. The only things I couldn't see are the two signals on the west (left) end. So I'm guessing as to their placement.
I'm considering building a small module with this arrangement to test out the basics of signalling with JMRI and perhaps the Entry-Exit software. Given only valid routes could be selected from the dispatcher's panel, am I missing anything that's critical.

Blast furnace tour
A machinest walking a tour of a late 1800's blast furnace. Might be some interesting modeling ideas.
Question: Gondola vs. Hopper?
As I was working on my car card and waybill system last night a question occured to me that I had not thought of before. I couldn't come up with an answer myself, so it's off to the help of my fellow MRH modelers!
I've got some gonodolas which currently only service a single industry on my layout - Gasior Scrap. Looking for other possible customers for my gondolas it occured to me that I've seen pictures of coal mines with gondolas being spotted under the tipple to carry coal in addition to hopper cars there, but I wasn't sure why that would be?
Minnesota Sanborn Maps
Sanborn Maps
I have discovered a Sanborn Fire Insurance database for communities in Minnesota. For those modelers that have an interest in reviewing track arrangements, and/or railroad industries of a local community, the link below will provide your need for prototypical modeling and operations.
