Prototype Railroading
Displaying Railroad Lanterns and Memorabilia
I would guess that a lot of modelers here have railroad memorabilia. Is there a place or way that you like to display your items at home. I am talking lanterns in particular but photos of any of your displays would be appreciated. I have a lot of documents, a lantern, and a telegraph key/sounder; all family heirlooms not on display and stored.

One more one town...
While reading Jim Six's blog ( http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/32127 ) on the one town theme, it really got me to start rethinking the direction my around the wall / shelf layout was heading. The responses and ideas have been very enlightening to say the least, with many bonafiable reasons to actually take this approach. With that being said I plan to model a time frame around 1976 early spring / late fall, The SD40-2 being my favorite workhorse sets me near that date (11'x24' foot room).
Galloping Goose Documentary
Colorado Experience has a nice half hour documentary on the RGS Galloping Geese. Check it out, I learned a lot of new things and I've been living in Colorado for almost a decade!

MOW car colors in the 30s and 40s?
Does anyone know the most common color(s) generally for MOW cars before VE day?
I model a narrow gauge line in WW2 and want to use a spare tender as a MOW water car. I know the D&RGW used grey as a common MOW color, but what did the other RRs use?
I know yellow or orange was common in later years, but what about in the 30s and 40s?
Digging up some old videos
I was going through some of my old YouTube videos today and remembered this one from 2009. Also one of the favorite videos I ever shot.
The CSX Callahan sub between Callahan Fl and Baldwin Fl. Turn the sound up.
Maintenance Cyclopedias
My father has a pretty extensive railroad book collection consisting of the traditional "rail fan" books and industry books contemporary to the steam era. The former are what I spent most of my time thumbing through as a minor, the latter are what intrigue me most today. It's neat to see what was cutting edge technology to the 1920's, 1930's and 1940's railroad professionals.
When are wrecked cars left in place
I've seen the occasional photo of wrecked cars that the railroad just left in place after the wreck. When would a wrecked car or bunch of cars just be left at the bottom of the gorge, in the ditch, or wherever else it came to rest?
Prototype photos for 2018
Hi All,
Went to see some trains today with my camera. Found a couple scenes that you might enjoy looking at.
In the spirit of the holidays I'd like to share them with You.
Hope the year is Happy, Healthful and Prosperous for you.
I’m looking forward to see your prototype photos too!

Utterly amazing prototype,,,helix dump cars
I saw this and was just in awe. No clue how well it really works; after all, this is an ad..but it looks NEAT! Might be hard to model, though.
