Dream and design

Classification Yard right next to Staging?
Does one put a classification yard right next to staging, and why would you do that?
It's really bugging me as I can't find much information about it. Yes, I see layout plans where people do this but what is the reasoning behind it...from operational point of view.

New layout - early working draft
I moved last fall and have been pretty busy with fixer-upper tasks getting the 2005 built (but neglected) home slowly into shape.
Here is the space I have to work with - framed in but outlets and drywall still to be installed. The main space is 15' wide by 27 1/2' long with another 6' section off one end, and another 12x12' area at the far end. The stairs enter at the far right where the light is.

D&H switching layout ideas.
The Delaware & Hudson Railroad has been awarded the operating right on the Attic & Shelf Line.
I am going to start my shelf switching layout based off the D&H around 1980. Wore out, dirty locomotives, but no sign of Guilford yet.
I have started this thread to brain storm on the potential of the one industry layout design. Heavily leaning towards a paper mill, or possibly a cement facility.
Oil/tool shed inspired by BOK
BOK - Barry inspired me to start building a tool/oil shed to go along my TT's track.

For now I have a cardboard mockup until I decide on how to make one.
In the meantime, I'll have to design a mound/foundation and scenery for it to go on.

Small buildings you wished exist in kit form?
So with my schools engineering club doing fundraising now I am considering designing a kit that we could produce more in bulk that we could advertise instead of just individual work. So what are some small building that you would like to see in kit form (what scale/scales too) I am looking for ideas and want to see what is not yet out there.

Brain Storm New England
HI all..
Looking to brain storm on a potential layout. An area I am really a huge fan of would be New England. Ever since my first visit to Vermont and follow many trips along the old D&H from Binghamton to Saratoga and evern through the White Mountains of New Hampshire I have really fell in love with that part of the country.
I have also really enjoyed looking at some amazing model railroads of this region.
I am thinking of giving it a try myself, but would like to get some ideas on what to model.
Best strategy/practice to plan transition from parallel tangent to parallel curved track?
I use 3dplanit and have a design I started to implement. It was based on 32" min radius for mainline. It is single track but has passing siding and other track in parallel around curves. I had settled in 2 1/8" center to center standard (from practical testing, John Armstrong's planning book, and car length to curve nX). Then I read the NMRA RP-7 and thought what if I need more spacing for future equipment.
Lets see black and white photos that inspired you to model a scene or train
I find that B&W photos of railway scenes are a great source for inspiration, but modeling it in colour takes quite a bit of research.
This photo inspired me to scratch build a turntable though I did not make it exactly this way.
So I though I would share the scene of my TT in B&W.
