Track Planning Software

What track planning software do you all recommend? I have an Apple Computer so online versus download may be what I need. Using Atlas Code 100 flex track and Atlas Custom Line #6 Turnouts.

Realistic roundhouse/turntable area

Hi, wondering what I should set aside for an area to install a 18 stall roundhouse (Walther's modern with a 14.25 depth) and turntable. HO scale, 1960-70's.

Minimum Curves for Long Freight Cars & Steam Locos

HO scale:
I'm looking at running long cars (autoracks, etc) on 2 parallel mainline curves, (also two helix curves) of OuterRadius 31". What is the minimum curve I can use for the InnerRadius, while still having trains pass one another simultanously on these 2 tracks.

1) In other words what is the minimum distance I need to provide between the centerlines of the 2 tracks?

Custom Laser Cut Work Hinsdale Central High School

Starting soon Hinsdale Central High School engineering club will be doing custom laser cut work to help support the Engineering Club. We have a maximum cut size of 12"x24" and cost is based on material and cut time (more rastering takes longer). I personally have experience designing a variety of railroad signs and structures and there are also plenty of other amazing designers that are part of the club. We are finalizing how this is going to work out now but will still start taking orders now.

How does one hide 90 degree turns when attempting to model a line that has no curves!

OK, first "modeling" issue I need to tackle for the "Erie Avenue Project Layout" is how do I disguise the 90 degree turns that will be required to fit this approximately 1.5 mile long STRAIGHT part of the Conrail Branchline that I would like to model.  There are no tall buildings to hide behind, and because the right of way is right next to the road there are no trees in between the road (Eire Avenue) and the track right of way.  The ballast of the railroad roadbed, and the shoulder of the road almost touch each other!

Thoughts on using a yard as a layout

As a newbie to the hobby, I have pondered over and over about what exactly I want to do; almost to the point of over thinking which ultimately leads me to doing nothing.  I'm sure we've all been there.  It's probably why I have been an "arm chair modeler" for years.  It's getting to the point where I just need to put my foot down, settle on something, start it, and ultimately practice my modeling skills ie. layout design/building, wiring, track laying, freight car building, operations, etc.

Need Help finding Photos and Maps for circa mid 1970s for Obscure Branchline

While waiting to expand the house sometime next year, I am putting the HO Layout on hold.  But I want to work on something, and I have been toying with the idea of modeling an actual stretch of a NYC/PC/Conrail Branchline in North Tonawanda, NY, along Erie Avenue.

Fleischmann Profi-Track Turnouts

Has anyone had experience with Fleischmann Profi-track turnouts?

I have quite a number of them that I acquired sometime ago, and I plan on using them along with a good number of Peco turnouts on my new layout. They appear to be quite well made.

Just wondering if anyone cares to elaborate on their experiences using them??
