Sound Along The LP&T

Hello All.

Coastal Defense Forts

I'm preparing to start a new HOn3 layout after a 30 year hiatus. It will be freelanced. I'd like to include a WWII era coastal defense fort or gun emplacement.

I graduated high school in Hawaii, and lived many years on Puget Sound. Both areas are covered with old coastal defense forts, and I have visited many there, along with the US Gulf Coast and Chesapeake Bay regions.

New layout space? HO 18' x 11'

Hey all I have the chance to get a brand new layout space that is 18' x 11'.  No windows, no pipes no other intrusions.  There will be one door on one of the 11' walls but I have the freedom to place the door anywhere in the wall, I can even have it swing out from the room so it's all on big plus.  I may even be able to stretch it to 19' or even 20' but the 11' is literally set in concrete.

Question about staging track arrangement

Please give me some feedback on these three options for my staging level (31" above the floor); or if there is another option I did not consider.

W.I.&M. White Pine Route - Milwaukee Era 1960s bedroom layout

As a spare bedroom in our house is remodeled into a lounge, it has opened up the opportunity to build a 2nd layout.  To keep the room open for watching movies and my wife's hobby (antique doll collecting and repair) I have designed a double deck with a helix around the wall shelf layout of the W.I.&M. line from Palouse, WA to Bovill, ID.  My other layout is a present day MRL layout.  I want to go earlier in era, so I am choosing the era when the Milwaukee Road owned this line (1962-1980), focusing on the 1960s.

Projection Mapping for the masses... Bring objects on your layout to life!

This popped up in my Youtube feed today:

I can see where this technology could be used to manage shadows, clouds, window lights, and all kinds of effects on a model railroad.

The possibilities are potentially endless on this. You could bring an entire night city scene to life in a very short time. Cool stuff!

Connecting modules, and yard layout...

Hi all,

I’m designing the track layout for an extension to an existing shelf layout and looking for opinions and ideas.

Accessing hidden track - How did you do it?

When you built an access to your hidden track in tunnels, did you build a trap door in your facia?  Was it a trap door with hinges or a pull out "window" with a knob or handle?  Any other approaches?

Brewery Layouts

I know I'm not the only one whose going to do a brewery on a layout. I am curious what tanks and silos you use for your breweries?

Are you just using Farm Silos and Water Tanks? Here's photos of the real deal:
