Pi SPROG One, ESU LokSound, and New to DCC Issues

Hi everyone,

I am a DCC newby and finally figured how to wire up my Proto 2000 SD-9 to my ESU Loksound Select Decoder. After making some programming adjustments and running the locomotive through it's functions for an hour, I ran over a misaligned turnout which appears to have scrambled my decoder. Now it continues to make some noises when track power is on but the throttle and functions are not functioning. I am trying to do a reset of the CV's using CV8 = 8 for ESU, but I cannot write the reset to the decoder in progrmming on the main mode or program mode.

LokSound Decoder Differences?

Hello,

I'm deciding on a decoder for my first install, and a bit uncertain on differences between my choices.

It will be for an old P2k SD9 (circa late 90's) which was not DCC. Only a circuit board I believe for lighting which I removed.

I'm leaning toward LokSound Direct Select, but before I pull the trigger I'd like to know if there is a difference between the decoder on the Direct Select and the Select 8 pin in terms of:

I need help with HO diesel switchers

I have for the last 35 years modeled in N scale and will continue to do so.  I find I have room for a 10 to 12 foot HO switching layout.  My problem is that I do not know much about the reliability of HO locos other than Kato.  I am considering the following five locos.     1)  Life-Like Proto 2000 S3    2)  Kato NW2    3)  Bachmann RS-3   4)  Bachmann 44 tonner   5)  Atlas S-4.     I will be running DC only.

Bachmann Alco S4 Wheels Out of Gauge

Hi All.  I'm looking for some advice and/or experience with a Bachmann Alco S4 Diesel.  I received one, complete with sound, for my birthday, and I'm delighted with the looks and speed performance.  I weathered it up and replaced the couplers, programmed it and put it into service.

Southern Pacific Kodachrome GP9R 3784

I recently competed a new kitbash detailing project. I never was a keen fan of the Kodachrome paintscheme, but as I model the SP in the 80's, I cannot get around them and needed to have at least one on the layout, so I used a Lifelike Proto2000 GP9 as the basis for this project.

Here is the end result , prior to weathering etc.

Peoria & Pekin Union RY #200

Hello,

My next project of unique / early streamlined diesel locomtives in 1/29 scale is Peoria & Pekin Union RR #200.

Built by Davenport in 1938 it houses four diesel-engines, two under each hood. This added up to 760hp in total. The unit lasted until 1968.

AUX2 pad on Loksound Select Micro?

Happy New Year everyone!

I have a used Loksound Select Micro I received in trade from a friend with no documentation (photo below).  I'm trying to wire ditch lights, but the layout of the solder pads doesn't match what I see in the Micro diagram on page 11 of the Select users manual.

Looking at the 5 solder pads along the edges near the end where the wires are attached in the photo below (3 on the left, 2 on the right), would someone please tell me which pad is AUX2 (commonly mapped to F6) on this decoder?

Speaker replacement for Proto2000 SW-type switchers?

Can anyone suggest a good replacement speaker for a Proto2000 SW9/900/1200 with the factory speaker in the fuel tank?  I'd like the replacement to remain in that location.  The factory version is 1-3/32" (1.09375") diameter and 5/32" (0.15625") thick.
