MERRY CHRISTMAS TO JOE, LES AND THE MRH CREW
A little Christmas Song for the holidays and a big thank you for all the hard work in producing such a fine quality resource to our hobby. Have a safe and enjoyable holiday.

Kit Assembly and Painting by Mike
This is another video of how to assemble and add detail to your kits. In this example masking is a must to create the end result. Love the roof and how the tar detail comes out. A little more effort and the structure becomes real.

Great Video - How to Get What You Want For Christmas
We have all been here.

I think I got a winner!
After a couple of months of idle work, I thing I have came up with a layout extension plan. My current table is 3' x 4' and is an oval in N scale. Now I will be modeling my favorite parts of the modern day Wisconsin Central Neenah Subdivision. I feature places like the Wiouwash State Trail, Dale, Larson Co-Op in Larson Wi, Waupaca Foundry in Waupaca, and the yard in Neenah Wi. I created this in Paint.NET with the help of Bandicam, Anyrail layout design software, and Google Earth. Satellite pictures are copyright of their owners.
Working on the Scenery
A quick introduction.
Model railroading took a hiatus for a few decades, until a chance visit to a Florida hobby shop and a purchase of a Athearn USRA 2-8-2 rekindled the hobby. Two false starts and then a small HO scale 2' X 8' freelance shelf switching layout took hold. Thankfully, all those blue box kits followed me through the decades.
The freelance layout grew and filled a small bedroom. Until two years ago I switched my last car on the HO scale and tried my hand at 2-rail O scale. Mostly to attempt hand laying track and turnouts.

Layout tour video
I finally had some time to shoot some video. It is just after a operations session. I hope to get the video about operations on my layout completed soon. I have completed a few scenes, and working on a tunnel and lake scene next.
You will see the mines, yards, dock and things in between. The only scene left out is the Train Defect detector shadow box scene on the helix mainline.
Lessons Learned - Retrofitting Rail Gaps
Now that my summer project is more or less complete I was able to get back to working on the railroad and finishing out the changes that I started in spring.

Holland Furnace Co.
Phase 2:
When I started to kit bash this structure I realized that I wasn't going to be able to get the same top cornice on the new walls as the style on the kit. So I cut the top cornice off the kit walls and added my own. It is made up of two pieces of styrene, the first one added was 3/16" angle, & the second is a piece of .030" x .125" strip glued to that.
The new cornice:

Rolling Stock Modeling
Over the last quarter of the year I've had to work a lot of over time (a problem I know many would like to have) and it's kept me away from home so I haven't been able to get a lot done as far as modeling goes. I have been able to get a few structures built and was hoping to maybe get some rolling stock built and detailed this weekend.
