What can be done with a 189.99 USD (MSRP) 3D Printer?
Thought I might share this experiment using a 3D printer with a 100 micron resolution and a print volume of a 4.7 inch cube.

Test Track ++ (O scale Switching Layout instead of a Test Track)
A blog of the construction progress.
Instead of an O scale test track, why not make a small switching layout above my work surface!

Project - Fertilizer Distributor Scratch Build
I needed a project and why not start on this small town rail served distributor for fertilizer.
I have never tried scratch building a complex structure and thought I would post my progress as a beginner over the next few months.
The plans are 1:1 scale and the model will be built in 1:48 scale. (It easier to let the software change the scale)
So let's see how it goes and if I finish it.
A Short-line in O Scale (4' 8.5")

One Module at a time.
I will post to this construction blog as the modules are completed. Currently I do not have a layout room, but expect to have one completed spring 2015.

First scratch-built Tree
My 4 year old nephew proudly gave me some twigs he found in the grass on the way to the playground.
Those three twigs became this O scale tree.

If you have the Real Estate
While searching for a railroad to model, I found this in Burley ID on an Eastern Idaho Railroad (EIRR) branch.
The image is from Google Earth of an ethanol plant.
The oval is over 4000' with the largest diameter being over 1175'. The run-around track is approximately 1744'.
Thought I would share.
