Perfect Gussets

Still working on the Morris Benchwork...

I needed some gussets for a weak part of the Morris benchwork. After looking in my offcut bin for a piece of plywood I could use, I decided I didn't want to go out to the shop to cut the parts (It's blizzarding!) so I drew them up and 5 minutes later I had perfect gussets!

CFNR (California Northern Railroad) West Valley Sub

I am building a layout in HO scale of the California Northern's West Valley Line. This line runs between Davis, Ca. and Tehema, Ca. and connects with the UP at both ends. The interchange with the UP is in Davis, the north end of the line is currently being used to store center beams.

New Cardboard Trucks from FDS - a Peterbilt Wrecker and a GMC Snow Plow

There are two new, high detailed models from our friends of FDS. Because they are Holiday-Gifts, I can not say how long they will be available. So hurry up and get them.

The Peterbilt Wrecker in a very detailed version, e.g. with opening doors and hood - in 1.100!!!

Re-lamping the layout

Over the holiday week I tore down the two peninsula valances on my IAIS Grimes Line layout and put up wrapped fluorescent fixtures in the middle of the basement. When construction began 2 1/2 years ago, my lighting design was simple. Lots of it and cheap. I went with tried and true fluorescent lights behind a hardboard valance. The result was even, focused light on the layout.

Great Video Resource!

Wow! That's all I can say at the moment.  Just Wow!.

I just signed up to Trainmasters TV as a Gold Charter Memeber and have only watched a few of the shorter pieces, but so far, I feel I've already gotten my money's worth!  This is a great product, with the only problem being,... now I'll be watching more video content,... which takes away some modeling time!  I know,... I'll just have to set the laptop on the workbench and watch and model at the same time.

Manitowoc 4100 Crawler crane

The little brown truck delivered this today.

I ordered it Friday and it arrived today. Talk about fast service. This is a die cast model in 1:50 scale. Close to O scale. At some point in time it will be fully motorized and controlled via radio control.

The cab housing.

An HO scale SD40 next to the crane.
