Richlawn RR V2 - Swing gate electrical interlock completed

With the swing gate mechanically completed today I installed the two micro-switches to protect trains by killing track power when the gate is open.  I cut gaps in the track a foot from the gate on either side and then installed micro-switches on each side of the gate to kill track power to the approach track to the gate.  If the gate is opened even 1/8" on the side opposite the hinge it opens the circuit.  The micro-switch arms can be bent to be adjusted if things change over time.

This is the switch on the end opposite the hinge.

Kit-bash station project.

I'm working on a station.  I gathered pieces from the scrap box, such as misc. and mixed-match wall sections from Walthers and DPM, pieces from a canopy kit from Kibri, and sheet and strip styrene for the roof structures. Here are some pictures of the progress.  It's still "under construction".

OK, I'll Bite. . . .

I am looking for your Pros and Cons on DCC wiring.

Here's the situation: I started laying track awhile back and used some of those rail joiners with the wire attached - WRONG! When you ballast and they "disappear," you can't find them when you have a problem. So, as I progressed, I made drops where required and soldered wire to rail and that wire to a buss with a Scotch-Lok or stripped and soldered. So far so good.
