The build of Holland Furnace Co. is finished and is in it's location in Ashland Ind. Area, Ashland, WI on my HO scale CNW Peninsula Div. RR. I still will have to add some people & maybe interior & exterior lighting, but that will come later.

Nice Work

Really like your work Richard. You have an excellent eye for detail. Not so much that it becomes over done but what you do include draws you in and provides some real interest. Nice photos too. I'm curious as to how many hours you invest to achieve a result like this?

Holland Furnace Co.

To IrishRover - My trains all run as "Turns" so since Ashland Ind. Area is stub ended during OPS session we need a way to turn the steam locos around to exit this area hense the turntable. see attached overall picture of the area.

Holland Furnace Co. was a industry located in this area and was serviced by the CNW RR during the era I model.

To Greentowner - Thanks for the nice compliments, I would guess that I have devoted about 40 hours to this project give or take. Most of that time was this past holiday week as my wife is out of town and I took a couple of extra days off from my part time job. This gave me a nice block of time to finish this building.

Holland Furnace Co.

IrishRover -

Since Ashland Ind. Area is dead ended and all of my trains run as turns, during OPS sessions we need a way to turn the steam locomotives around to head out of town, hence the turntable. See the picture below for an overview of this section of my layout. The Holland Furnace Co. was actually a business located in Ashland and serviced by the CNW RR during the era I model.

Thanks for the compliments. I would guess that I have about 40 hours all told in building this structure give or take. Most of that time was put in over the last Holiday week. My wife is out of town and I took a couple of extra days off from my part time job last week, so I had quite a chunk of time to devote to this structure.

Now back to the next building in this area which is going to be a Wholesale Grocery Dist. - "Flannelly Co.". It will be the next one down to the left. I am using Walthers "Water Street Freight Terminal" kit for the build. The story behind it is that the Flannelly Co. took over the old Freight Terminal when they moved into town for their business. Good Job

Nice job on the Centennial Mills building. I have the same model and would like to finish it similar to yours.

You gave us "Phase 2" with the grey primer then the "Finished building".  Could you give more information on how you proceeded after the primer to the nicely completed building.   The finished building does not look as grey as the primer.  Did you use washes of different colours to obtain the finished structure?  I would be interested in your method.

Thanks

Rick
