Documentation for running new package of STS on Windows 10 updated

The instructions for using STS on a Windows computer have been updated to include the UniServer package. As I mentioned in the previous post, this web server / database server platform is smaller than XAMPP and simpler to deploy. There's no installation process, just download, unzip, and run it. XAMPP is supposedly a little faster but I haven't noticed that UniServer's speed is unacceptable, at least on my Windows 10 Pro desktop.

Additional packaging for STS software

Now that STS version 4 is making the rounds of those model railroaders interested in operations, we're finding that the web server - database server - programming language platform with which it's been packaged these past several years is occasionally having issues with some versions of Microsoft Windows 10.

The XAMPP package includes the Apache 2 webserver, the MySQL/MariaDB database server, and the PHP programming language system. XAMPP relies on some Microsoft programming libraries and some versions of Windows 10 seem not to have the most current version of them.

Cooking with Iron & Resin 2021

Welcome to 2021 indeed!!

2021 starts in a new place with lots of new space for everything that is fun and exciting.

2020 ended with a huge push to exit my storage units and subsequently my apartment and enter the realms of owning my own house.  And we did it, with a day to spare, to great benefit all around.

This year we will aim to complete the projects of last year and blow out a lotta dust..

Onwards!!

coal load

A nice load for an open hopper can be made with Chooch Enterprises flexible sheets.  In this example for a coal load, the base starts with a rectangle cut from .060” Evergreen styrene.  This thickness is strong enough to not flex.

A different kind of progress

Some days progress is different.  Spent the last two days cleaning up the train room (and watching football).  Not pristine by any count, bu I do feel more energy to work again, so it was worth it.  (I won't post before pictures.  They are embarrassing.  Nothing that you all haven't seen in your own places, but embarrassing to me none the less.)

I am still missing an Xacto.  I'm sure I'll find it in an undesirable way...

Happy New Year everyone!
