Now that STS version 4 is making the rounds of those model railroaders interested in operations, we're finding that the web server - database server - programming language platform with which it's been packaged these past several years is occasionally having issues with some versions of Microsoft Windows 10.

The XAMPP package includes the Apache 2 webserver, the MySQL/MariaDB database server, and the PHP programming language system. XAMPP relies on some Microsoft programming libraries and some versions of Windows 10 seem not to have the most current version of them.

I've uploaded an alternative package to address these issues. I've loaded STS into a zip file based on the Uniserver Apache-MySQL/MariaDB-PHP platform. This package is a little easier to install and it's also smaller than XAMPP but can run slightly slower. This zip file can be found in the same Google Drive location as the XAMPP files. Here's a link to the overall storage location:

https://drive.google.com/.../1FBQzxxBRhtz0rK5plvw2pim55jO...

Here's a link to the Uniserver package directly:

https://drive.google.com/.../1TAcoHiLgpuW4MB7cOy3.../view...

I know that Uniserver also requires one Microsoft code library, but it seems to have less dependencies than XAMPP.

I'm in the process of updating the installation instructions to include those for the Uniserver zip file. Until that documentation is complete and posted, feel free to contact me via eMail at tre.taliesin@gmail.com for assistance.

I've also uploaded four individual programs that address some issues that can occur on certain Windows machines. They are contained in a subdirectory with today's date that's in the Patches folder which is at the top of the main STS storage location. To install these patches, download and copy them over the top of the existing files that can be found in the main sts folder on your machine. Again, if you have problems or questions, please contact me via eMail.

Happy Railroading!

Hello Tom,
I would like to start looking at the program and creating the files I expect to need (cars, industries ,etc).  I have used computer generated lists for years but I'm not a computer geek, so I'll need some time the get feel for how it works.
Looking forward to it.

Hi, Steve!

I think we communicated on the STS Facebook page and you've gotten started. Let me know via FB Messenger if you have any questions or problems. I'll send you my eMail address and phone number so we can communicate more easily.

Thanks for giving STS a try!

No problem! Feel free to give me a call or eMail. I've sent you my contact info via Facebook Messenger. I think all you need is a little practice downloading and "unzipping" a file. STS doesn't really require any actual installation. All you do is download it to your desktop, unzip it, and it's ready to go. Stay in touch and don't give up! 😊

Hi Tom
Time to get busy and see if I can get STS to work for me.  I've been busy working on RPM Valley Forge, and have a bit of a break to look at it.
I have  a down load of it but can't get it to work.  There is some missing program that I need to get it too work with windows?  I have a friend who has  MAC  and got it open.  had good things to say about it.
