Last section of Bench Work for the JL&T...
So yesterday for something a little different and to have a break from wiring and signal work I made a start on the extension to Harrisburg Yard and the a small kitchenette for the crew lounge area. This will also form part of the entrance wall to the crew lounge and layout as a whole.
The kitchenette will be a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker along the wall starting from the nib wall on the right.
Platform construction started at Lochdubh
Today I started with the platform construction at Lochdubh. For these I used some downloads which were part of the Hornby Magazine Operation Built It Series. Which ran in late 2013 and early 2014.
I also dismantled the Your Model Railway Village Mk1 coach.
Progress on the Kingsbury Branch
Since the better half had to work Wednesday and I had the day off, I decided it would be a great idea to spend most of the day in the train room getting jobs done.
1) Finished installing all the hand throws and fine tuning the turnouts
2) Finished tacking down all the track that had been temporaily laid down to check for use
3) Got some more snipe signs and installed fascia around the layout
4) Installed another Digitrax Universal panel
5) Weighted some more cars until I ran out of pennies
Making your own insulated railjoiners?
Does anyone know what I could use to insulate railjoiners? I can't purchase anythig so a DIY method would work.
Grade Testing Equipment
There was much conversation on the forum here about the engine going up a 9% grade. Many ideas were given on how to improve traction and so forth. This morning I did some testing on a track test bed I had built last year to test the pulling power of model engines. I never finished it totally.
The new Bachmann S-4
Got the new Bachmann Milwaukee Road S-4 in the mail Monday. Sounds nice. Although the horn volume is quite low. I have the master volume set to 255 and the horn volume set to 255 but its still low. The bell and the prime mover sound just fine though.
Florida Highland Fleet as of November 2015
Hi all
just like to share a quick video of my growing fleet for the Florida Highland Railroad
The FHRR is my freelance addition to the Pinsly railroad operations in Florida. The idea behind it is that the FHRR links all five Pinsly shortline from Newberry in the north with Lake Wales in the south via old abandoned lines. Their HQ are based in Highland City FL.
Lochdubh in 00
A few years ago I started building some modules for an 00 gauge railway,
But then I lost my interest in 00 for some time.
Today I did some work on my 00 Lochdubh modules.
During my last operating session, a Heljan Class 26 changed
ownership from my friend Matthias to me. These started a little boost to
work on Lochdubh. To get to the right width for FREMO 00 modules
I expanded the modules by 10 cm. And I also built a new modules,
on these the line continues and I will place a distillery on it.
