Got the new Bachmann Milwaukee Road S-4 in the mail Monday. Sounds nice. Although the horn volume is quite low. I have the master volume set to 255 and the horn volume set to 255 but its still low. The bell and the prime mover sound just fine though.

Bachmann S-4

Be aware having the volume all the way up can be bad on the speaker.  Soundtraxx Tsunamis have low horn volumes for some reason. On teh full version they have an equalizer that helps some what. Here's mine I added details to.      Joe

I think that's true of just about every diesel decoder I've ever heard. For some reason the horn sounds can't be made to sound correct with the present technology. The closest I can recall hearing was Lionel Railsounds running thru TMCC......DaveB

Tsunami horns

Yes Roadglide the horns are low sounding on the S4 as well as some of the other Bachmann SV models.  Turn down all the other sounds to about half.  I added a speaker to my S4 and it improved the sound quite a bit.  I just used a 10MM speaker in it's own enclosure and fit it into the cab.  I made the enclosure as large as I could and had to do a bit of custom fitting but it was well worth the effort. This small upgrade alone improved the low end sounds and bass response.  Horn was much better also.

S4 volume

Here is the link in the Bachmann forum. It's for the S2 but will work on the S4.      Joe

S4 Volume follow up

Hmm, sounds easy enough. I'll give that a try.

Thanks Joe
