Membership Drive
Northern Hills Railway Society is looking for some model railroaders that would like to join a club. At this time we have no dues. All of our Locos and rolling stock is own by the club. The Club is located on Deadwood, Main Street, South Dakota. In recent years we have lost a number of members to the great layout in the sky. So the club is looking for new members to join our great layout. The HO and HOn3 layout is 70 feet long and 16 feet wide and has two main DC lines that run off a dollar machine.
Weathered cars on the Hitop
After not posting in quite awhile, as I've been busy with family and recuperating from a work injury, here are some weathered cars I have done for use on the Hitop. Some of my work I have sold on EBay the past few months, and just sold the Chessie box shown below to a good friend in Ohio. The PRR car I just finished, after two weeks, and four types of weathering medium on the car. I recently started to weather cars on the side for either sale on EBay, or sale to friends. I eventually would like to do custom work for modelers to enjoy.
Rundown warehouse, sort of!
I wanted to have a go at painting brickwork so decided to start a project I have been planning for a while. A few years ago I got hold of some plastic brick sheet and some plastic sliding doors. The idea is to make a back scene out of foam card and clad it with the brick. Adding the doors will allow me to spot cars there.
So I decided to do 1 section to see how it came out. I did this as a rundown part.

This is it Folks, The Main Reason for the Trip, Today is the Day!
I'm a regular listener of Lionel Strang's AML podcast, and an active participant on the AML Podcast facebook page. I feel like I've gotten to know many of these people already and the opportunity to meet some of them in person was too hard for me to resist.
Vermillion Yard track and wiring completed. Operations video.
I finished the track work and wiring of my upper level yard rebuilding. I changed from Bullfrogs to Toggle switches for ease in reversing the turnout throws. I can now add the fascia and throw rods and start working on scenery.
Turnouts are all hand built code 83 using Fast Tracks products. The flex track portions are Peco Code 83. This was just the first trial run to see if Operations could start up. I still need to adjust a few spots and do a few more sea trials.
Modelling Albion yard, Victoria (the CPR's E&N Rwy)
Hi all,
Road trip
I'm on a work related trip that has taken me to eastern Quebec, almost as far as you can travel by road on the north side of the St. Lawrence River. This trip I have brought some model railway kits and my portable workbench - a small two sided plastic box that I have supplies in for trips like this. I'll have to see how I manage with the Tichy kits I brought along.
Something to keep busy with in the evenings
