My Gorre & Daphetid Part 2: Benchwork

I built my benchwork on the following plan from Model Railroader.  I also followed along with the YouTube video “Build a model train layout: Model railroad benchwork train table how to WGH”.  The following posts will detail my methods.

My Gorre & Daphetid Part 1: Introduction

Call me crazy, but I am going to attempt to recreate John Allen’s original 3’ 7” by 6’ 8” Gorre & Daphetid.  I have had two small layouts in the past.  The first, a poorly modeled 4’ x 8’ that taught me a lot of lessons.  The next, the 4’ x 6’ Gold Hill Central from Model Railroading.  Alas and alack, I sold both when I moved twice.

While to bones of both the Mill main building and the warehouse are made from acrylic the brick is paper the door are from Tichy Train Group, The window are cut by me on the laser. Expansion part 2

An update on the Hitop Branch expansion. Five modules are now built and up on legs. Fascia has been installed on all but the back of the yard and has been painted. Two modules totaling 9 feet will go down the left hand side of the original layout, while the right front corner gets extended by 10 ft, including an 8 ft yard. I envision a total of nine industries on all the modules. All my extra track, switches, etc are now in except for my roadbed material, so track laying will commence shortly. The yard however is almost completely in. Below are new photos of the progress:

Railserve Beverage Bottling Facility, Update #2

Well I am back at it again. I had a few supplies waiting for me when I returned for my trip and was able to make some progress. As I said previously, I really want to try and scratch build my primary structures. With that being said I didn't want to dive right into my complex manufacturing facility to the far left of the layout. To learn the ways of styrere I have been working on a simple concrete warehouse. I still have to work on the building specific details.

Richard Bale's definitive modeler's guide to prototype freight car trucks.....

Mr. Fugate,  I just had to comment on the great article in the MRH #100 entitled:  Richard Bale's definitive modeler's guide to prototype freight car trucks....  I really enjoyed reading it and look forward to more such articles.  I'm especially interested in passenger car trucks.  I hope Mr. Bales continues forward into covering passenger car trucks in the same way he did freight car trucks.  Thank you for a great eMagazine.

Sincerely,

Ed Locklin at mp367
