Turntables

I'm turning to the experienced professionals here since I have tried several times consulting with dealers and not getting any replies or reliable answers to my questions. First, what size turntable do I need for my layout if my longest engine and tender to turn is a Berkshire 2-8-4? Secondly, does it come in Code 83 and is or can be operated manually? The longest reach to its position is one-half an arms length with no obstructions in the way.

NMRA Virtual Worldwide Convention ... now over

*** THIS VIRTUAL ONLINE CONVENTION HAS ENDED ***

For those of you disappointed that so many train shows and conventions have been cancelled lately, be sure to check out the Worldwide NMRA Virtual Convention which is actually going on now!

So be sure to tune in - especially at 1p Eastern Time when I'll be giving a presentation on using prototype inspiration and information to model a New England branchline (no points for guessing which one!)

Scenery details you might not of though of

Hello,

Thought I’d share a few details for your model railroads that some of you might not be aware of.

G Scale Quarantine Project with My Kids

Since my family has been at home, we have looked for projects and "fun" things to do to pass the time and keep us all off of electronic devices.  One of these projects includes building some G scale cars.

Benchwork done - now for lighting and backdrops

Now that I have the benchwork in and Homasote subroadbed down work has to move to the next couple of items before track laying can begin in earnest. These are getting the high rear and low-profile foreground backdrops in - the latter to hide the surround staging tracks that wrap around the rear of the benchwork. Per the plan below you can see the high-backdrops noted as the thick, solid blue line behind the staging tracks.

New Chapter in my modeling life

Having just moved, i have to decide what to do next. i am not into switching, and my preference was a continuous track plan that i could rail fan the trains going through scenery. i enjoy the modeling aspect of the hobby. my new home does have an great hobby workshop. this space was previously used as a kitchen/work space for decorating wedding cakes. its basically a kitchen with a wide peninsula/work table. there is a sink and cupboards and shelves all around the room. great place to store all the supplies and materials that you collect.

Traffic lines and marking complete. WIP Update

It has taken quite a few hours of measuring, marking, masking, painting and (of course) touch ups. As you can see from the “Google Earth” view. The trailer parking and container storage areas have been lined and numbered. I have not placed the CN Intermodal Yard into my Trenton Subdivision in N Scale. By having the flexibility of being able to move the scene I can work easily on all areas.
