Spanish Layout and American Layout in south of France.
New member on this forum, I thank the administrators for accepting my registration.
Hello, my name is Stéphane, I live in the south of France near the Spanish border and I work in French railroads.
As I only speak French and Spanish I prefer to use Google Translate. I therefore apologize for this rough translation.
Valued Opinions
Does anyone know of a retailer thaty actually has the Micro Engineering Ladder system in stock? I got a partial order but after more than a month the backorder portion looks like a lost cause. In addition to the ME #14-711 turnout, I need to order several others for a third yard on my layout under construction.
The system laid out using paper templates works really well for my staging area. I gained two additional staging tracks in the same space, so I highly recommend their system.
Scratchbuilding a Small Workshop
First time I've ever tried to do this, so please let me know if I'm going about it all wrong!
Thought I would make a post about scratchbuilding this small workshop:
For the record, this is the very first complete scratchbuild I have ever done. Ever.
CREATING THE DESIGN
Creating Large Diameter Pipe Bends
While taking a break from modeling I was reading some of the discussion forums. There was one on cutting styrene tubing to make pipe bends. Although I print mine I thought my method would be helpful to those Using tubing.
Most large size pipe bends are created by making wedge shaped sections that have a 22.5 degree angle from vertical. These sections are together to form the bend. Two sections for 45 degrees and four for 90 degrees.
Finished Intermodal Cranes
Just finished the MiJack Translift and Container Gantry Cranes for my CN Intermodal Yard on my layout -Trenton Subdivision in N Scale. The two crane models fit nicely in the scene and don’t overshadow the surrounding scenery. I opted for two different styles of cranes for added variety.
NMRA-X Videos & (rough) index
Now that I've caught up on some sleep, WOW! What an amazing event the NMRA-X Worldwide Virtual Convention was this weekend! I hope you were able to join in for at least part of it. But if you didn't, no worries! The entire feed was recorded and will be edited to be more user friendly at some point soon.
RGS - some additional structure work, and 'planting'
Here's a new blog post on some structure work I've been doing lately

I'll put a few pictures here, but there's lots more in the blog post.
Sunday morning photography
While waiting for on-line church to begin I headed down to the layout to get some ops in. This photo is the daily Security Local headed by B&O GP-9 6431 arriving in Security, a locale northeast of Hagerstown, MD to switch the scrap yard, lumber yard, and pick up cars from the WM.
The loco is a Bachman GP-9 with an Econami decoder, LED lighting, and a in house made 2200uf keep alive.
Hope all is well with you and your families.
Keeping the Marshline Going!
Hello Everyone!
Its been about two years modeling The Chicago & Northwestern Marshline Subdivision. I’ve had some wavering moments, where I’ve wanted to call it quits on the Marshline – Go back to the Mascoutin Valley or model another part of the Chicago & Northwestern system. The pictures below show my modeling progress of the last two years. Planning, work, rework, money and time spent on what? 60% of 8 feet of module? Hmmm.
