Hello,

Could someone point me in the direction to find the post on how to upload and post a video to the forum site?

Thanks.

New shelf layout benchwork

First ever blog entry!  Thought I'd share since its using steel stud and track, a method that occasionally comes up but I haven't seen it much used for a shelf layout. Generally the details of construction are pretty thin in discussions too.

Just to set the stage. This will be my second layout since getting back into the hobby as an adult. The first was last year; a typical 4x8' double track roundy round with a small yard and a couple industry spurs.

Organizing the Siskiyou Line dismantling

The Siskiyou Line 1 dismantling continues.

The "refuse pile" of materials is building up, so in the next post I give you the details on how I'm keeping "my head above the refuse pile", so to speak.

New workspace

Finally carved out a niche for my own work space. The tiny corner of my basement that I'd been using as my music room has a nice sunlit egress window that provides me light and somewhere to vent spray booth fumes, as well as nice ceiling recessed can lights for after dark. My wife decided to redo the corner of the family room that holds all her photography stuff, which made available a nicely sized piece of countertop with a backsplash. And the recent acquisition of a new bookshelf for the bedroom made two smaller bookshelves available as bases.

Code 5,000 rail

I’ve got a couple of 8’ lengths of 85 pound rail kicking around that came from my great uncle Bob’s place. He worked for the Boston and Albany back when his job was trimming wicks and pouring kerosene for signal lamps. I hate to see a family heirloom like that sitting outside rusting and I’m needing a change of pace from the buildings I’ve been working on lately. Time to do something about this.

Scaling down weight

I'm not sure if this is a Eureka! moment, or if I just reinvented the wheel, but.....
