Finally carved out a niche for my own work space. The tiny corner of my basement that I'd been using as my music room has a nice sunlit egress window that provides me light and somewhere to vent spray booth fumes, as well as nice ceiling recessed can lights for after dark. My wife decided to redo the corner of the family room that holds all her photography stuff, which made available a nicely sized piece of countertop with a backsplash. And the recent acquisition of a new bookshelf for the bedroom made two smaller bookshelves available as bases. Put altogether, it makes a very nice spot for working on things; certainly nicer than the card table which is impeding the progress of my layout building.

Congratulations Mike!

A real, dedicated workspace makes modeling more efficient and a whole lot more fun.

Ha !

We take our victories when ( and where ) we can ! Looks like a perfect niche to work on stuff. Lots of sunshine when you need it, and from the shadows, looks like you have a shade you can pull down and close when you don't. Nice comfy chair...got your music there...perfect. Now...if you can just keep it as pristine as it is now...and not let it get piled up like my flat surfaces do...you will be good to go !

Pardon my ignorance..

...but what is a pig nose? Given the guitar question I assume it's an amplifier of some sort.

Pignose

Pignose is a small battery-powered guitar amp popular in the 1970s, named as such for its signature pig-colored, faux-leather covering. The brand still persists today but has largely been supplanted by the popular $99 Roland MicroCube portable solid-state amp with built-in effects. Back in high school, I had a Pignose 30/60 (30-Watt RMS/60-Watt peak) solid-state amp with a 12" speaker.

Pignose

A small solid state battery powered or AC powered guitar amplification system with a tiny speaker and a pig nose for the off/ on  and volume switch.  It was kind of revolutionary as most of the 1970's monster guitar amplification systems were massive in size, and stadium volume. This little pignose was a fantastic first bedroom amp that one could take anywhere. Using it outdoors was fun.
