Atherton Yard Turntable Complete

Finally got the turntable finished and installed - Just needs the Digitrax auto reverser and approach track linked in and we're good to go..............

Turned out much better than I thought for a cheap eBay 1963 vintage kit (Cliff Line).

There are many bargains about on eBay for the patient - (I recommend casual hunting on a laptop  while half watching TV).

Richlawn RR V2 - Switching the Wall Switches - Complete!

Have you ever known that you have a problem but choose to cast "blind eyes" on it?  Well, that is me with the light switches in my office / layout room.  When I was putting the bench work in the room I could see that access to the light switches was going to be obstructed but I was in such a hurry to get it in I ignored the problem.  Thank goodness I've come to my senses before it was too late!

Deciding between two classic layout plans

I'm well into the demolition of my existing layout. I hate how much harder it seems to get the stuff out than it did to put it in.  It's probably the other way around and easier to take out but it doesn't seem that way. Guess it has something to do with the anticipation when you are starting a project rather than ending one.

Christmas in August - my visit to see Michael Rose

I am blessed to have an excellent modeler and good friend Michael Rose living about 50 minutes from my home.  You can learn more about Michael's Georgetown & Allen Mountain railroad from his many postings on MRH and also by going to his website, http://www.gamrailroad.com/ .  I got to visit Michael yesterday and as usual had a wonderful time!

Unknown type or value

There are three of these cars that were given to me and I'd like to learn more about them. I'm not a hobbyist so more info than less is good.

Keeping it fun can be a challenge

Here I sit on my back porch having my nightly libation supposibly relaxing and a part of me is saying "shouldn't I be working on my railroad?" After all, I am finally at a place where I can really make some progress. The bench work is coming together nicely, the room is about ready, and I even have part of the track plan printed out full scale. So what's my problem? Well, I suspect that I have the same problem that many of you also have - that being finding a balance. If I don't work enough and progress fast enough then I feel guilty.
