Major Accomplishment for me today

I have always been fascinated by the thought of running prototype length trains. Several decades ago I remember reading about and looking at a picture of 3 Athearn F units pulling a 45 car train in one of the magazines. After reading about coal trains and various railroads ran this or that I thought that would be something to do.

No LEDs tried everything

I am putting a simple Digitrax D123 decoder (no sound) into an older but very nice Bachman GP9. I have the red wire connected to the frame on the engineer's side and the black wire connected to the left hand side of the frame, the motor is totally isolated with the orange and grey wires connected top and bottom. the engine runs perfectly in either DC or DCC.

Auction in Pennsylvania

Normally I suppose this would qualify as advertising but...

1. I'm not making anything off of it; and

2. This is so over the top as to be an event.

Railroad Maps from the 1945 Official Guide - Compiled by John Barry

I received an email today that was a forward from John Barry (His Blog).  In his blog, he has given a link that can be used to download a pdf of Railroad Maps from the 1945 Official Guide.  There is over 200 pages of information that he is letting fellow modelers download.

I know some of you will find this fascinating.
