Stirrups

Does anyone know if these type of stirrups are manufactured in HO in brass?

CN 8 hatch reefers

I've been able to find some pics of the prototype on the net even some with the CN noodle paint scheme, but no dates on when they started to retire. Anyone know when these type of reefers started to retire? I'm guessing the mid to late 70's?

Best Airbrushes

I'm looking for opinions on what are the best airbrushes for spraying acrylic paints. I read recently that some of the traditional models, ie. Badger 150, were designed for solvent based paints and may not be optimum for acrylics. Which types are easiest to clean? What about the newer brands like Aztec?

Thanks, Hans

Photos of a simple HO layout

Here are a few photos of my midwest, contemporary, short line railroad. It runs from a wye connection with CP, past a transload center and terminates in a balloon track which was originally part of a crossing between two defunct lines and which serves a half dozen industries. This layout dosen't compare to those of a Tom Johnson or a James McNab and it it's a work in process but it does serve the purpose of being a fun little road to build and a bit of operation for a few friends or the family.

Thanks, for looking.

Nelson BC Diesel Shop

Hello Friends

Together with Stefan Foerg (who build my Dioramas) and Rodney Walker (who make my CP Engines) I would like to make a Nelson Diesel Shop Diorama. I've got allready the Nelson Building Plan from the 1996-12 Mainline Modeler Magazine and I've many pictures from the Internet like this:

Alternate space for clubs

I know this is a crazy idea to start with but....

national film board of Canada

This is my first post here, I've been modelrailroading for just over 3 yrs now, working on my third layout.  I would like to thank everyone for all the amazing amount of knowledge, sharing and help on this site.  I haven't had to ask any questions, because all the questions I've had have been asked and answered here already.

So in the spirit of community I'd like to share a small nugget.

Back drop sanding...

Well at this point literally everything I do is new ground. This is the first time I have made a permanent layout, so I have never gotten his far before.

I have watched videos and read books on the subject. I am not very hopeful for good results on this, but I will try anyway.

Sanding - I have read it is a good thing to "wet sand." I know it will keep the dust down (a big plus), but will it give better results?
