UV activated glues

Has anyone any experience with UV glue?  I think my dentist uses it to hold my crowns own so it should be strong enough.  I'd appreciate your thoughts.

What makes a good model railroad hobbyist?

Recently Joe Atkinson asked what post seem to get the most attention (reads/comments). It got me to thinking about those on this forum who seem to be respected for the types of posts that attract attention, whether by design or innovation, and those who seem to be prolific model builders.

Street running at Quisling CA

After lots of planning, I've recently added two new boards to my Quisling module, and in particular, four feet of street running. Thanks for looking.

source for phosphor bronze strip material for wipers?

Can somebody recommend a US source for phosphor bronze strip material?

I'm looking for 1mm wide strip to make wipers for my locomotives.

Everything I found so far is coming from the UK.

Removing Lettering

I needed to remove some lettering from a Rivarossi steam loco so I did a search of the forum. Lots of good ideas including my method of using oven cleaner. However the family is in the house and when I get an idea in my head I won't let it go so I needed a less smelly solution for tonight. I tried 99% alcohol. It removed the black paint just fine but didn't touch the white lettering. I tried Solvaset with no result. Then I tried erasing the lettering with a pencil eraser. No luck.

Weekly Photo Fun - February 19th to February 25th, 2016

Great work everyone last week!  Time to start of this week's photo thread!

As always, we get as much out of your in-process photos as we do the highly polished "all done" shots!

Anyone modeling the ARR

I'll have to admit that the show Railroad Alaska is a guilty pleasure of mine. Once one ignores the fake manufactured drama and fake sense of emergency, it is interesting to watch the days to day activities and MOW work (like melting a frozen culvert with electrifying a wire). Mostly single track mainline operations, tunnels, sharp curves and incredible vistas.

Anyone here modeling the ARR?

Norwottuck RR progress

First image of my layout I wanted to share.  All it needs is power, 40 feeders, DCC, scenery, buildings, people, trees, and oh yeah - trains.

Working N scale traffic lights

I made traffic light heads that are true to scale that can be fitted with SMD nano-LED's. I made them available via Shapeways. When you let me solder, it will end in disaster. But a German modeller by the nickname Loetboy made an excellent how-to for these lights.
